High Drilling PowerWith 1,400 in-lbs of torque and a POWERSTATE brushless motor, this hammer drill keeps pushing through dense wood, masonry, and heavy fastening work without feeling underpowered. Compact M18 Hammer DrillAt 6.95 inches long, the Milwaukee 2904-22 M18 FUEL 1/2-in. Hammer Drill/Driver Kit fits better between studs, inside cabinets, and anywhere a full-size drill gets awkward. That matters when you are drilling larger holes or hitting material changes that can twist the tool hard in your hands.

Overview

The Milwaukee 2904-22 M18 FUEL 1/2-in. Hammer Drill/Driver Kit is a cordless hammer drill kit built for heavy drilling, fast driving, and jobsite mobility. This is a hammer drill/driver designed for drilling into wood, metal, brick, block, and concrete while also handling fastening work. Model Number 2904-22. If you need one drill that can cover rough framing holes, anchor prep, and general screwdriving without stepping up to a bulkier tool, this is the kind of kit you look at first.

The big headline here is usable power. Milwaukee rates this drill at 1,400 in-lbs of torque, and the POWERSTATE brushless motor is built to hold speed under load. In practical terms, that means better performance when you lean on it with larger bits, self-feed bits, and heavier fasteners. Milwaukee specifically calls out the ability to complete 2-9/16 inch self-feed holes in dense wood, which tells you this is not a light-duty drill dressed up with a hammer mode. It is meant to earn its keep on framing, remodeling, electrical rough-in, plumbing rough-in, and maintenance work.

Size is the other reason this drill stands out. At just 6.95 inches long, it is compact for the amount of power on tap. That shorter head length matters when you are working between studs, inside mechanical spaces, above shoulder height, or anywhere you do not have room to square up with a longer drill. A compact drill also tends to be less tiring over the course of the day, especially when you are moving from hole to hole or drilling overhead.

The Milwaukee 2904-22 M18 FUEL 1/2-in. Hammer Drill/Driver Kit is also set up for control, not just raw output. It has a 2-speed transmission, 16 clutch settings, and a mechanical clutch for more repeatable fastening. That matters when you are switching between boring holes and driving screws, because you can keep the tool from overdriving fasteners in finish materials or smaller hardware. The 1/2 inch keyless all-metal chuck with carbide teeth is another real jobsite feature, giving you stronger bit grip and better long-term durability than lighter-duty chucks.

For masonry work, the dedicated hammer drill mode gives this tool another lane of usefulness. It is built for drilling into brick, block, and concrete, which makes it a good fit for Tapcon-style fastening, accessory mounting, and general anchor prep. It is not a replacement for a rotary hammer when you are doing repeated large-diameter concrete work all day, but for a drill/driver that also needs to handle wood and metal, that added capability makes it more valuable on service trucks and mixed-trade jobs.

Milwaukee also builds in jobsite protection features that matter once the tool is actually working hard. AUTO-STOP control mode is there to help reduce over-rotation in a bind-up, and the tool includes a dedicated indicator light to show a protection event. REDLINK PLUS intelligence is designed to manage overload, heat, and over-discharge conditions, which helps the drill and batteries hold up better when the work gets repetitive or demanding. The built-in LED light and all-metal belt clip are smaller details, but they are the kind of details you appreciate every day.

As a kit, this setup is ready to go right out of the case. You get two M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 battery packs, an M18 and M12 multi-voltage charger, a side handle, and a blow molded case. The M18 battery platform is one of the strongest reasons to buy into this tool if you are already running Milwaukee cordless gear. Batteries can move across a wide range of M18 tools, so this kit can either jump-start a platform or add a serious drill to an existing setup.

Who is this for? Pros first. Carpenters, electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, remodelers, and general contractors will get the most from the mix of power, compact size, and hammer capability. Serious DIY users who want pro-level performance and do not want to outgrow their drill will also appreciate it. If your work regularly includes larger holes, dense materials, masonry anchors, or heavy screwdriving, this kit makes a strong case for itself.

Drill Big Holes Without Stepping Up to a Bulkier Tool

This is where the Milwaukee hammer drill earns its spot in the truck. It has the torque and under-load performance for larger wood-boring jobs, but it stays compact enough to use where space is limited.

• 1,400 in-lbs of torque for demanding drilling and driving
• Milwaukee states it can complete 2-9/16 inch self-feed holes in dense wood
• Hammer mode adds brick, block, and concrete drilling capability
