Key Features

Clamp Where You Need It The MATCHFIT system lets you route your own dovetail grooves instead of being locked into fixed T-tracks. That means you can add hold-down points to jigs, fences, benches, and sleds exactly where the work calls for them. Serious Holding Power With up to 490 lbs of clamping strength, these dovetail clamps do more than light positioning. They give you enough pressure for fixture work, routing setups, and keeping stock planted during repeat cuts. Clear Work Surface The clamp arm stays down in the dovetail groove, so it does not crowd the top of your setup like a conventional bar clamp can. That leaves more room for saw bases, router bases, fences, and your hands.

Overview

Micro Jig DVC-538K2 MATCHFIT Dovetail Clamp (2-Pack) is a specialty woodworking clamp set built around routed dovetail grooves instead of fixed metal track. This is a dovetail clamp designed for custom workholding on jigs, fixtures, benches, table saw sleds, and shop-built fences. Model Number: DVC-538K2. If you like building your own setups instead of buying a pile of proprietary hardware, this system gives you a cleaner way to lock material down where you actually need it.

The big selling point here is flexibility. These clamps are made to work with a 1/2 inch, 14-degree dovetail router bit and a 3/8 inch deep groove, which means you can route tracks directly into plywood, MDF, or bench tops and create hold-down points almost anywhere. For woodworkers building custom jigs, that matters more than it sounds on paper. You are not stuck with pre-drilled holes or aluminum track locations. You put the clamping point where the cut, fence, stop block, or workpiece demands it.

Holding power is not an afterthought either. It delivers up to 490 lbs of clamping strength, so this is not just a light-duty positioning clamp. It is a real workholding option for keeping stock stable during routing, crosscut sled work, table saw operations, and fixture setup. The listed maximum opening of 5.37 inches gives you enough range for common jig parts, fences, and workpieces, while the bar design keeps the mechanism straightforward and easy to dial in.

One of the smarter parts of the MATCHFIT design is how it keeps the work surface usable. Because the clamp engages through the dovetail groove, it secures material without forcing a big clamp body across the top of your setup. That is a practical advantage when you are running a router along a guide, pushing stock across a table saw, or setting up repeat stops. Less interference means fewer workarounds and less time fiddling with clamp placement before every cut.

The construction is built for shop use. It uses steel and stainless steel materials, and the handle is a soft-grip rubberized design for better control during tightening. In plain terms, that means the clamp is meant to be used over and over in a woodworking shop, not treated like a disposable accessory. The grip matters more than most people think when you are doing repetitive setups and breaking them down all day.

Compatibility is a major part of why this clamp stands out. It is part of the Micro Jig MATCHFIT system, and it is engineered specifically for routed dovetail grooves made with a 1/2 inch, 14-degree dovetail bit. It also works with jigs, sleds, infeed tables, fences, stop blocks, extension guides, and even workstations that use 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch dog holes. If your workflow revolves around shop-built fixtures, this clamp gives you a modular way to keep improving those setups instead of replacing them.

This is a strong fit for woodworkers, cabinet installers, trim carpenters, serious hobbyists, and anybody who builds their own fixtures to get repeatable cuts. It makes the most sense for people who already own a router or are comfortable routing grooves into their work surfaces. If you want a standard clamp for quick household tasks, this is more specialized than you need. If you build sleds, fences, workbenches, and custom guides, the Micro Jig DVC-538K2 MATCHFIT Dovetail Clamp (2-Pack) is the kind of shop accessory that solves a real problem and keeps paying off every time a new jig hits the bench.

Build Clamping Points Into the Work

These clamps make more sense the second you stop thinking like a clamp buyer and start thinking like a jig builder. Route the groove where you want the pressure, drop the clamp in, and lock the stock down without cluttering the whole work area.

• Designed to work with custom dovetail grooves instead of fixed T-track layouts
• Useful for benches, saw guides, straightedge setups, and one-off shop fixtures

Keep Router and Saw Setups Stable

When you are routing repeat parts or building guide fences, movement kills accuracy fast. The MATCHFIT dovetail clamp gives you solid downward pressure while keeping the top of the setup clear for the tool base to travel.

• Listed clamping strength up to 490 lbs for secure workholding
• Clear-top layout helps when using routers, sleds, and guided cuts

Useful on Table Saw Fixtures

Table saw sleds, fences, and stop systems are where these clamps really earn their keep. They let you hold odd stock, build taller auxiliary fences, and create repeatable setups without reaching for bulky bar clamps that get in the way.

• Specifically suited to fences, infeed tables, and table saw sled applications
• Maximum opening is listed at 5.37 in. for a useful range on shop-built fixtures

Made for Custom Workholding

This is the kind of clamp that starts with one jig and ends up all over the shop. Once you have the groove profile in a bench top or fixture board, you can keep adding hold-down positions for drilling, routing, trimming, assembly, and layout work.

• Compatible with the Micro Jig MATCHFIT workholding approach for shop-built fixtures
• Sold as a 2-pack so you can start with paired clamping on fences, guides, and wider stock

Pro Tip

When you build a new jig, route a few extra dovetail grooves now, not later. It is a lot easier to add future clamping positions while the setup is on the bench than after the jig becomes part of your regular workflow.
