Key Features

High Pressure Output The Makita GPG01Z grease gun delivers up to 10,000 PSI and up to 12 fl. oz. per minute, so it can push grease through stubborn fittings without wasting time on slow manual pumping. Controlled Greasing Four speed settings, a digital display, constant speed control, and a discharge counter up to 99 strokes give you better control when precise grease delivery matters. Built for Real Access The 47-1/4 inch flexible hose, stand-up design, trigger lock, and shoulder strap make this cordless grease gun easier to use when fittings are awkward and the job takes time.

Overview

The Makita GPG01Z 40V max XGT Brushless Cordless Grease Gun is a cordless grease gun built for equipment maintenance, fleet service, and shop work where speed and controlled grease delivery matter. This is a grease gun designed for lubricating fittings on machinery, vehicles, and heavy equipment. Model Number: GPG01Z. If you are moving from a manual grease gun and want faster output with less effort, this tool solves that problem.

On the numbers, this tool brings up to 10,000 PSI maximum pressure and up to 12 fl. oz. per minute of maximum flow rate. That matters because some fittings take grease easily and some do not. Higher pressure helps push grease through fittings that have more resistance, while the faster flow rate cuts down the time spent servicing multiple points in a row. Makita also gives you 4 speed settings with a digital display, so you can slow things down for more controlled greasing or move faster when production matters more than fine metering.

Makita did not stop at raw output. The GPG01Z adds Constant Speed Control to keep discharge stable during greasing, which helps avoid the stop-and-go feel that makes lubrication messy and inconsistent. It also has a Discharge Counter with preset control up to 99 strokes. For techs who want repeatable grease delivery across multiple fittings, that is a practical feature, not just a spec sheet line. It helps keep maintenance more consistent from machine to machine.

One of the smarter jobsite features here is Air Lock Detection. Grease guns can lose time fast when air gets into the system during cartridge changes or loading. Makita designed this system to help prevent damage and misapplication caused by grease replacement air lock. The tool also uses a new barrel loading design to make grease changes quicker and help reduce air lock in the first place, and an air bleed valve assists with faster pump priming. That means less downtime when you swap grease and less frustration getting the tool back to work.

For access, the GPG01Z uses a 47-1/4 inch flexible hose, which is a big deal when fittings are tucked behind guards, under equipment, or in spots where a rigid setup fights you the whole time. Makita also added a trigger lock for longer greasing cycles, a stand-up design so the tool is easier to stage between fittings, and a shoulder strap for better carry and support on longer maintenance rounds. Built-in twin LED lights with a separate switch help when the fitting is buried in a darker machine compartment or under a truck.

This tool uses a Makita-built brushless motor, which fits the application well because grease guns spend their life under load. Brushless design helps with efficiency and runtime, and Makita states this model delivers up to 175% higher flow rate than the previous model. It is also built on the Makita 40V max XGT platform, so it is meant for users already invested in XGT batteries and chargers or those building out a higher-demand cordless system. Makita also includes Extreme Protection Technology for improved dust and water resistance in harsher working conditions.

The listed weight is 11.5 lbs. with battery, and this version is sold as a tool only, so battery and charger are not included. That makes the most sense for mechanics, maintenance departments, ag users, and equipment owners who already run Makita XGT tools. If you need a cordless grease gun for regular service intervals, mobile repair work, or keeping uptime on machines, this is the kind of tool that earns its place quickly. If you only grease something once in a while, it may be more tool than you need. But if lubrication is part of the weekly routine, the speed, pressure, and control make a real difference.

Push Grease Through Tough Fittings

This grease gun is built for users who need cordless mobility without giving up the pressure needed for hard-to-service fittings. When a machine has multiple grease points and some of them fight back, the combination of high pressure and adjustable flow helps keep the job moving.

• Up to 10,000 PSI maximum pressure for demanding lubrication work
• Up to 12 fl. oz. per minute maximum flow rate for faster servicing
• Brushless motor designed for efficient power delivery under load

Better Control, Less Mess

Not every fitting needs the same amount of grease. The digital controls on this model make it easier to match output to the job, which is especially useful when you are trying to avoid over-greasing seals or keep service intervals consistent across a fleet.

• 4 speed settings with digital display for precise flow control
• Constant Speed Control maintains stable, consistent discharge
• Discharge Counter allows preset discharge control up to 99 strokes

Pro Tip

When you change grease cartridges, use the air bleed valve right away before chasing a flow problem. On a tool like the GPG01Z, that saves time, helps prime the pump faster, and works with the air lock detection system the way it was meant to.
