Overview

The Makita ADP001G 40V max XGT Cordless Power Source is a compact battery-powered USB adapter built for Makita's XGT platform. This is a cordless power source designed for charging USB-compatible devices when AC power is not available. Model Number: ADP001G. If you already run Makita 40V max XGT batteries on the job, this gives you a straightforward way to turn that battery into portable device power instead of carrying a separate power bank.

What matters here is convenience without extra complexity. The ADP001G mounts onto a compatible Makita 40V max XGT Lithium-Ion battery and gives you two USB Type-A ports. Each port delivers 2.4A output, and when both ports are in use the unit provides 4.8A total output. For contractors, service techs, and anyone working away from wall power, that means you can keep a phone, small light, or other USB-powered gear charging from the same battery system you already use for your tools.

Makita kept the design simple for real jobsite use. A dedicated L.E.D. on/off button turns green while the port is in use, so you get a clear visual check that power is active. The unit also has rubber covers over the USB ports, which matters more than it sounds. Ports that stay exposed collect dust and grime fast in a truck, gang box, or work area. Covered ports tend to stay usable longer, especially if this adapter lives loose in a bag with other gear.

The auto-off function shuts USB output power down after 30 minutes. That is useful if you are trying to avoid coming back to a dead battery because a device stayed connected longer than expected. It is a practical feature for a battery accessory like this, especially when you are using high-value XGT packs that are also needed to run your core tools.

Because this is part of the Makita 40V max XGT system, compatibility is the main buying consideration. The ADP001G is made for Makita 40V max XGT Lithium-Ion batteries. Makita also notes that the XGT system uses digital communication to monitor and protect against overload, over-discharge, and overheating. That platform integration is the real advantage over a generic adapter. You are buying something that is designed around the battery system, not an add-on that just happens to fit.

This accessory makes the most sense for users already invested in XGT. If you are a contractor, maintenance tech, remodeler, electrician, or serious DIYer carrying XGT batteries every day, the Makita ADP001G 40V max XGT Cordless Power Source is an easy add to the kit. It is not a replacement for a wall charger or inverter, and it is not meant to power full-size tools. What it does well is give you reliable USB charging from the batteries you already own, with a compact form that is easy to keep in the truck or tool bag.

Keep Devices Charged Off the Grid

This adapter solves a common problem on the job: your tools are cordless, but your phone and small electronics still need power. Instead of hunting for an outlet, you can use the same XGT battery platform already in your rotation.
