Built for Lefties The Knipex 16 95 02 SB KNIPEX ErgoStrip Universal Dismantling Tool is made for left-handed operation, so left-handed electricians and low-voltage installers get proper control instead of fighting a right-hand tool. One Tool, Multiple Cables It handles NYM cable, coax, Cat 5 through Cat 7, twisted pair, and metric conductors from 0.2 to 4.0 square millimeters. That means less switching tools when the job moves from power to data. Tight-Space Access Conical slim tool ends, a thumb rest, opening spring, and locking device make it easier to work in panels, boxes, and other cramped spots without fumbling.

Overview

The Knipex 16 95 02 SB KNIPEX ErgoStrip Universal Dismantling Tool, Left-Handed is a compact cable dismantling and wire stripping tool built for electricians, data installers, and service techs who work with multiple cable types. This is a dismantling tool designed for stripping and removing outer sheaths from metric cable. Model Number: 16 95 02 SB. If you are left-handed and tired of adapting to tools that were clearly built for somebody else, this one fixes that problem directly.

What matters here is range. This tool strips NYM cable from 8 to 13 millimeters, coax from 4.8 to 7.5 millimeters, Cat 5 through Cat 7 cable, twisted-pair cable, and metric conductors and strands in 0.2, 0.3, 0.8, 1.5, 2.5, and 4.0 square millimeters. On the job, that means one hand tool can cover common electrical and communication cable prep without bouncing between separate strippers and sheath knives.

The KNIPEX ErgoStrip layout is built around control. The conical, slim front end helps you reach into tight electrical boxes, control cabinets, and crowded cable runs where bulkier stripping tools get awkward fast. Knipex also added locating ridges between stripping holes, which makes it easier to line up the right conductor size by feel instead of hunting around every time you change wire.

For sheath work, the built-in cable stripping knife handles longitudinal cuts in cable jackets, and the two blades at the front are there to remove the outer sheath of NYM cable. That combination is the real value of a universal dismantling tool like this: you are not just stripping conductor insulation, you are also opening and preparing the cable cleanly before termination.

From a durability standpoint, the housing is made from fiberglass-reinforced plastic, which keeps the tool lightweight at about 0.21 lb while still giving it the toughness you want in a pouch or bag. The multi-component handle uses a softer grip zone and thumb rest area for a more secure hold, especially when you are making controlled cuts instead of just brute-force pulls.

Jobsite usability is solid. The opening spring speeds up repetitive work, and the locking device keeps the tool secure when it is not in use. Easy insertion for coax and data cable also helps when you are doing trim-out or low-voltage work where small, delicate cable prep needs a lighter touch than standard electrician's pliers can offer.

One important thing to know: this tool is for metric wire only. That is not a drawback if you are working in the cable sizes it was designed around, but it is something to pay attention to before you buy. For the right user, that metric-specific layout is actually the point, because the stripping holes match the intended conductor sizes instead of being a compromise.

Who should buy it? Left-handed electricians, panel builders, telecom installers, and anyone handling metric cable prep on a regular basis. If most of your day is stripping common residential and commercial cable jackets, prepping coax, or working with Cat cable in tighter spaces, this hand tool earns its keep fast.

Made for Faster Cable Prep

This tool is built to streamline the part of the job nobody wants to waste time on: opening cable, finding the right stripping position, and getting clean prep without nicking what is underneath.

• Strips NYM cable, coax, Cat 5 through Cat 7, twisted-pair, and selected metric conductor sizes
• Cable stripping knife supports longitudinal cuts in the outer sheath

Reach Into Tight Electrical Spaces

The slim, conical tool ends are there for a reason. When you are working inside boxes, near bundled conductors, or around finished wiring, a narrower nose gives you better access and better control.

• Conical front end helps in confined areas
• Easy insertion of coax and data cable reduces fumbling during prep

Comfort and Control for Left-Handed Users

Most stripping tools are an afterthought for left-handed tradespeople. This one is not. The handle shape, thumb rest, spring opening action, and lock are set up to feel natural in left-hand use.

• Opening spring helps with repetitive stripping work
• Multi-component grip and thumb rest improve hold during controlled cuts
