Key Features

Clean Crosscuts The 80-tooth Alternate Top Bevel layout is built for fine crosscutting and mitering where chip-free edges matter. That means less cleanup on trim, moldings, plywood, and picture-frame work. Smoother Running Blade Anti-vibration design helps keep the blade stable through the cut. Less chatter means a better finish and better control, especially on delicate coated moldings and finish materials. Longer Edge Life Freud's TiCo Hi-Density Carbide, Perma-SHIELD coating, and Silver I.C.E. treatment are there for a reason: less heat, less drag, and longer usable blade life when you are making repeated finish cuts.

Overview

The Freud LU85R010 10 in. Ultimate Cut-Off Blade is a carbide-tipped saw blade built for ultra-clean crosscuts and miter cuts in wood and sheet goods. This is a crosscut saw blade designed for finish-quality cutting in hardwood, softwood, laminate, plywood, chipboard, picture frames, and moldings. Model Number: LU85R010. If your goal is a polished edge right off the saw with minimal sanding, this blade is aimed squarely at that job.

What makes this blade different is the tooth package and the way Freud tuned it for surface finish, not brute-force ripping. The 10 inch diameter, 80-tooth count, Alternate Top Bevel grind, and 10 degree hook angle are all pointed at one thing: clean, controlled crosscutting. On trim, veneered plywood, and delicate moldings, that matters because the cut quality is often the difference between install-ready and extra bench time.

Freud also backs the cutting edge with its TiCo Hi-Density Carbide blend, which is formulated for the application instead of being a generic carbide tip. In practical terms, that means the blade is built to hold its edge and maintain finish quality over more cuts. The Tri-Metal Brazing is there to improve tooth bond strength and give the carbide better resistance to impact and stress, which is important on a high-tooth-count finish blade where consistency matters.

The blade body is engineered for accuracy as well. Freud calls out a laser-cut plate made from 48 Rockwell steel along with high-tolerance plate grinding and tensioning to help the blade stay flat and true. Add in the anti-vibration design and you get a blade that runs smoother than a standard construction blade. That translates to less movement during the cut and a better shot at glass-smooth results on miters, frames, and other detail work where a tiny amount of tear-out is still too much.

Heat and pitch buildup are two of the main things that drag down performance on fine-finish blades, especially when you are cutting coated stock or making repeated passes. Freud addresses that with Silver I.C.E. coating to reduce heat and buildup, plus Perma-SHIELD non-stick coating to cut drag and help resist corrosion and pitch accumulation. That is not just a spec-sheet extra. A cleaner-running blade stays easier to feed, runs cooler, and keeps producing a better edge over time.

For fitment, the Freud LU85R010 10 in. Ultimate Cut-Off Blade uses a 5/8 inch arbor and a full kerf of 0.116 inch with a 0.098 inch plate. Freud lists it for crosscutting and mitering applications and notes an ideal cutting thickness range from 1/4 inch minimum up to 1-5/8 inch maximum. It is not recommended for non-ferrous materials, so this is a wood-focused blade, not a do-everything option.

This blade makes the most sense for finish carpenters, cabinet installers, trim crews, woodworkers, and serious DIY users who care more about cut quality than aggressive feed speed. If you are cutting frames, moldings, veneered panels, laminate, or fine hardwood crosscuts, this is the kind of blade you buy to avoid chipped edges and wasted material. If your work is mostly rough framing or heavy rip cuts, you would be paying for finish performance you probably do not need.

Built for Finish-Ready Crosscuts

This blade is tuned for the kind of cuts that show. When you are trimming parts to final size or dialing in miters that need to close cleanly, the tooth count, grind, and blade stability all work together to leave a much cleaner edge than a general-purpose blade.

• 80-tooth Alternate Top Bevel grind for fine crosscutting and miter work
• 10 degree hook angle helps balance clean entry with controlled feed
• Ideal cutting thickness range from 1/4 in to 1-5/8 in

Runs Cooler and Smoother

Fine-finish blades lose performance fast when heat, pitch, and vibration start stacking up. Freud addresses all three with coatings and slot design that help the blade stay cleaner, track truer, and hold its cut quality longer through repeated use.

• Silver I.C.E. coating helps reduce heat and buildup
• Perma-SHIELD non-stick coating reduces drag and resists corrosion and pitch buildup
• Anti-vibration design helps reduce movement for cleaner finished cuts

Made for Fine Wood and Sheet Goods

Not every blade handles delicate surfaces well. This one is intended for hardwood, softwood, laminate, plywood, and chipboard, which makes it a strong pick when edge quality matters more than raw stock removal.

• Recommended for crosscut wood, hardwood, softwood, laminate, plywood, and chipboard
• Not recommended for non-ferrous materials
• Built for picture frames, moldings, and other finish-sensitive parts

Freud LU85R010 10 in. Ultimate Cut-Off Blade for Finish Work That Actually Shows

This is the blade you buy when you are tired of sanding away what a cheaper blade leaves behind.

• Who it's for: Finish carpenters, cabinet installers, woodworkers, and serious DIY users making visible crosscuts in trim, plywood, laminate, and moldings.
• Why it stands out: The 80-tooth ATB pattern, anti-vibration design, TiCo carbide, and low-drag coatings all point toward one result: cleaner edges with less fuss.
• Worth knowing: This is a specialty finish blade. It is not the right call for non-ferrous cutting or for using as your rough all-purpose construction blade.

Common Questions

• What is this blade designed to cut? It is designed for wood-based materials including hardwood, softwood, laminate, plywood, and chipboard in crosscutting and mitering applications.
