Overview

The Freud LU2A33 400mm Carbide Tipped Saw Blade for Ripping & Crosscutting is a 400 mm circular saw blade built for sizing wooden panels and composite sheet goods. This is a circular saw blade designed for ripping and crosscutting wooden panels and composites. Model Number: LU2A33. If you run a panel saw, sliding table saw, or other shop machine that accepts a 400 mm blade with a 30 mm arbor, this blade is aimed at clean, controlled production cutting rather than rough framing work.

The tooth layout is what makes this blade useful across mixed materials. It uses 60 carbide-tipped teeth with an alternate top bevel grind and a 15 degree hook angle. In practical terms, that setup is well suited for general purpose panel sizing where you need one blade that can handle both rip cuts and crosscuts without constantly swapping blades. That matters in cabinet shops, millwork, and production environments where melamine, veneered plywood, MDF, chipboard, particle board, and hardwood panels may all show up in the same run.

Freud also builds in features that matter over a full day of cutting, not just on the first pass. The blade uses a Silent Sawblade pattern and anti-vibration design to help reduce noise and stabilize the cut. Less vibration can help the blade track more smoothly through large sheet goods, which is especially important when handling wide panels where chatter or deflection is more noticeable at the edge.

The blade body uses a 3/16" (4 mm) kerf with a 1/8" (2.8 mm) plate. That combination gives the blade enough body to stay stable while still being purpose-built for panel processing. Freud also adds its Silver I.C.E. coating, which is intended to reduce buildup on the blade surface and keep the blade running cooler and cleaner. For anyone cutting resin-heavy sheet goods, laminates, or engineered wood products, that is a real-world benefit because buildup changes cut quality long before the teeth are actually worn out.

From a fit standpoint, the important numbers are straightforward: 16" (400 mm) diameter, 30 mm arbor, and 60 teeth. That means this is not a casual grab-any-saw blade. It is for stationary cutting equipment set up for this blade size and arbor standard. If your machine is spec'd for a 16" (400 mm) panel sizing blade, these dimensions are the first things to confirm before buying.

This Freud blade makes the most sense for cabinetmakers, millwork shops, woodworking pros, and serious users processing sheet goods in volume. If your work is mostly panel sizing and finish-sensitive cuts in wood-based materials, this is the kind of blade that earns its keep. If you are looking for a rough construction blade for jobsite framing lumber, this is the wrong tool. It is built for cleaner shop cutting, better finish quality, and consistent results in panel work.

Made for Panel Sizing Work

This blade is built around the kind of work panel saw users actually do: breaking down large sheets, keeping edges clean, and moving between different wood-based materials without switching setups every few cuts.

• Designed for wooden panels and composites
• Suitable for rip cuts and crosscuts in one general purpose blade
• Works across materials like laminate, melamine, plywood, MDF, chipboard, particle board, and fiber board

Freud LU2A33 400mm Carbide Tipped Saw Blade for Ripping & Crosscutting Performance

The numbers on this blade are chosen for controlled cutting in sheet goods. The 60 tooth count, alternate top bevel grind, and positive 15 degree hook angle give it the range needed for general purpose panel processing instead of forcing you into a rip-only or fine-finish-only setup.

• 60 carbide-tipped teeth for balanced cut quality and throughput
• Alternate top bevel grind for clean cutting in wood panels and composites
• 3/16" (4 mm) kerf and 1/8" (2.8 mm) plate for stable cutting on properly matched machines

Set Up for Shop Machines

This is a machine-size blade, not a handheld saw accessory. Before you order, the key fit points are blade diameter, arbor size, and whether your saw is rated for the blade body and kerf.

• 16" (400 mm) blade diameter
• 30 mm arbor
• Best suited to stationary panel sizing and table-style shop saw applications that match these dimensions

Pro Tip

If you are buying this blade to improve finish quality on sheet goods, check the saw first, not just the blade size. The 400 mm diameter and 30 mm arbor need to match, and your machine also needs to be set up for the 3/16" (4 mm) kerf so you get the cut quality this blade is built to deliver.
