Key Features

Clean Panel Scoring Built to score coated panel faces before the main blade cuts through. That helps reduce top-surface chip-out on laminate, melamine, veneered plywood, and other finished sheet goods. Conical Tooth Grind The conical grind with 36 teeth and a positive cutting angle is built for precise scoring work, not rough cutting. If your job depends on clean panel edges, this is the right kind of blade. Cooler Running Surface Freud's Silver I.C.E. Coating helps prevent buildup on the blade body. Less buildup means smoother running, easier maintenance, and more consistent results over long panel runs.

Overview

The Freud LI25M43PL3 200mm Conical Scoring Saw Blade is a carbide-tipped scoring blade made for coated panel cutting on sizing machines and similar panel-processing equipment. This is a scoring saw blade designed for clean pre-scoring of laminated and coated sheet goods. Model Number: LI25M43PL3. If you cut double-sided laminate, melamine, veneered plywood, particle board, or similar panels and need to control tear-out before the main blade enters the cut, this blade does that job.

What matters here is not just the 8" (200 mm) diameter and 36-tooth layout, but how those specs work together in actual panel processing. The conical grind is built for scoring the surface layer ahead of the main blade, helping protect brittle coatings that like to chip at the top face. The listed 3/16" to 3/16" (4.3 to 5.5 mm) kerf range gives you adjustment room to match your scoring setup to the main saw blade and the panel you are running.

Freud also calls out an ATB 6 degree tooth with a positive cutting angle and an 8 degree hook angle. In practical terms, that means the blade is designed to enter finished surfaces cleanly and efficiently during the scoring pass. This is not a general-purpose circular saw blade and it is not trying to be one. It is a purpose-built shop blade for one job: setting up cleaner finished cuts on coated panels.

The 1/8" (3.2 mm) plate gives the blade body the stiffness needed for controlled scoring work, while the carbide-tipped construction is there for wear resistance in abrasive sheet goods. Freud also uses its Silver I.C.E. Coating to reduce buildup on the blade surface and help the blade run cooler and cleaner. On long production runs, that matters because resin, adhesive, and panel coating residue can build up fast and affect cut quality.

Fitment details are just as important as tooth geometry on a blade like this. The Freud LI25M43PL3 uses an 80 mm arbor and a 2/14/110 pinhole pattern, so it is meant for the proper scoring assemblies and machine configurations that accept those dimensions. It is specifically a scoring sawblade for use on sizing machines, which makes it a better fit for panel saw and beam saw style workflows than for handheld or jobsite saw use.

This blade makes the most sense for cabinet shops, millwork operations, production woodworking shops, and serious panel processors who cut a steady diet of laminated sheet stock. If your work is mostly raw framing lumber or rough carpentry, this is the wrong blade. If your work depends on clean finished panel edges with less rework after the cut, this is exactly the kind of specialized scoring blade worth having set up correctly.

Freud LI25M43PL3 200mm Conical Scoring Saw Blade for Finished Panels

This blade earns its keep when the panel face has to stay clean. In laminate and melamine work, the scoring pass is what helps the main blade leave a cleaner edge instead of blowing out the top surface.

• Designed for scoring coated panels on sizing machines
• Ideal for laminate, melamine, veneered plywood, MDF, OSB, chipboard, particle board, and fiber board applications listed by Freud

Dial In the Score Before the Main Cut

The important number here is the scoring width range. With a 3/16" to 3/16" (4.3 to 5.5 mm) kerf, this blade gives you the range needed to tune the scoring pass to the main blade setup and the material you are cutting.

• Kerf range: 3/16" to 3/16" (4.3 to 5.5 mm)
• Conical grind for scoring rather than full-depth finish cutting

Built for Dedicated Panel Processing Equipment

This is shop equipment territory, not general saw duty. The 80 mm arbor and 2/14/110 pinhole pattern point to dedicated scoring assemblies used in production panel cutting environments.

• Arbor size: 3-1/8" (80 mm)
• Pinhole pattern: 2/14/110

Pro Tip

Set the scoring width to match your main blade kerf as closely as your machine allows within the blade's 3/16" to 3/16" (4.3 to 5.5 mm) range. That is the difference between a clean top face and a panel edge that still needs cleanup.
