Key Features

Complete Drywall SystemThe Festool PLANEX EASY LHS-E 225 EQ-CB Drywall Sander Starter Set bundles the long-reach sander, a HEPA dust extractor, a pre-loaded abrasive Systainer, and a hand sanding block for detail work so you go from bare drywall to finish-ready walls and corners with one purchase.Reach Ceilings Without a Ladder ShuffleAt 63" (1.6 m) overall length even longer reach than Festool's PLANEX 2 the LHS-E 225 EQ-CB reaches ceilings and upper wall sections from the floor, cutting down on the ladder climbing and repositioning that slows down drywall finishing.Suction That Doesn't FadeThe included CT 36 EI AC extractor uses automatic filter cleaning to maintain consistent suction through heavy sanding sessions, instead of losing pull as the filter loads up with drywall dust.

Overview

The Festool PLANEX EASY LHS-E 225 EQ-CB Drywall Sander Starter Set (578408-577874-578960-578281) is a complete long-reach drywall sanding system built for drywall finishers, painters, and remodeling crews who need to sand walls and ceilings smooth and clean up corners and edges by hand without wrestling separate tools and dust collection into a working setup. This is a drywall sander combo kit designed for wall, ceiling, and detail sanding, pairing the PLANEX EASY LHS-E 225 EQ-CB long-reach sander with the CT 36 EI AC HEPA dust extractor, a pre-loaded abrasive Systainer, and an HSK-A hand sanding block a Tool Nut bundle built around Festool's drywall sanding lineup.

The LHS-E 225 EQ-CB itself runs an 8-7/16" (215 mm) StickFix sanding pad under a 9" (225 mm) abrasive disc, driven by a direct-drive EC-TEC brushless motor with a variable speed range of 400 to 920 RPM. Because the motor sits directly over the pad instead of driving it through a flexible cable, there's no drive-cable drag and no carbon brushes to wear out and replace less downtime, less weight at the head, and a flexible head joint that adds freedom of movement a rigid long-reach sander doesn't have. At 63" (1.6 m) long, it reaches ceiling seams and high wall sections from standing height, which is the main reason a long-reach sander earns its price over a standard random orbital less ladder time, less strain from working overhead.

Dust handling is where this bundle earns the "system" label rather than just being a sander with a vacuum attached. The included CT 36 EI AC extractor carries HEPA-rated filtration and Festool's AutoClean function, which automatically clears the filter during operation instead of relying on you to stop and manually knock dust loose. On a job that's producing a steady stream of fine drywall dust for hours, that automatic cleaning is what keeps suction from tapering off halfway through the session weaker suction means more airborne dust and a dirtier job site, so the AutoClean function isn't a minor convenience, it's the thing that keeps the whole system working as advertised.

The pre-loaded abrasive Systainer (D225 GR NET HSK-A) keeps a range of Granat net abrasive discs organized and ready to grab by grit, so you're not digging through loose sandpaper mid-job when you move from a coarse pass to a finishing grit. The sander itself keeps things simple out of the box StickFix backing pad and plug-it cable ready to go with the abrasive variety and dust extraction handled by the Systainer and CT 36 included in this set.

System compatibility runs through Festool's abrasive ecosystem rather than a separate interface pad the 8-7/16" (215 mm) StickFix backing pad on the LHS-E 225 EQ-CB accepts the included 9" (225 mm) Granat net abrasive discs directly. The 27/36mm dust port on the sander matches standard Festool CT-series extractor hoses, including the kink-resistant D36x3.5 hose sold separately for extended reach, and the included HSK-A hand sanding block runs its own 3-1/8" x 5-1/4" (80 x 133 mm) Granat, Rubin, or Granat Net abrasives while connecting to that same CT 36 extractor through its own integrated hose adapter one extractor covers both machine sanding and hand detail work.

Buy this set if you're doing regular drywall finishing work new construction, remodels, patch repair and want the sander, extraction, abrasives, and hand-detail sanding sorted out in one purchase instead of assembling a system piece by piece. It's built for drywall finishers, painters prepping walls for finish, and general contractors who take on their own drywall work, including the corners and edges the long-reach sander can't get into. If your sanding needs are occasional and small-scale, a standard random orbital sander will cover it for less; this bundle is for crews who are sanding walls, ceilings, and detail areas often enough that reach, dust control, and abrasive organization actually matter to the bottom line.

Sand the Whole Room Then the Corners Without Stopping to Reset

The Festool PLANEX EASY LHS-E 225 EQ-CB Drywall Sander Starter Set hands you the sander, the extraction, the abrasives, and a hand sanding block for the spots the machine can't reach all matched to work together.

• Who it's for: Drywall finishers and remodeling crews who sand enough walls and ceilings that reach, dust control, and abrasive organization actually save time on the job.
• Why it stands out: The direct-drive brushless motor skips the carbon brushes and drive cable of older long-reach sanders, the CT 36's AutoClean filtration keeps suction from fading over a long session, and the included HSK-A hand sanding block covers the corners and edges the long-reach sander can't get into.
• Worth knowing: The HSK-A hand sanding block uses its own 3-1/8" x 5-1/4" (80 x 133 mm) abrasive format, separate from the 9" (225 mm) discs the machine sander runs both draw from the same CT 36 extractor.

Common Questions

• How far can the sander reach? The LHS-E 225 EQ-CB measures 63" (1.6 m) overall, letting it reach ceilings and high wall sections from the floor.
• Can I use the hand sanding block with a non-Festool vacuum? The included hose adapter is built for Festool CT-series extractors; it's not designed for non-Festool vacuums.
• What's the hand sanding block for? It's for corners, edges, and detail areas the long-reach machine sander can't get into it connects to the same CT 36 extractor for dust-free hand sanding.
