Key Features

Reverse Read Blade The lefty/righty layout keeps the numbers readable when the tape is extended from either hand. That makes layout work faster and cuts down on misreads when you're reaching across material. Auto-Lock Control Pull the blade out and it stays where you set it until you hit the release button. On a tape measure, that means less fighting the blade and easier one-handed measuring. Built-In Jobsite Extras FastCap adds a pencil sharpener and erasable notepad right on the case. It is a simple idea, but it saves trips back to the bench when you're doing repeated measurements and markups.

Overview

The FastCap PSSR-16 AUTO 16' Reverse Read Tape Measure is a compact measuring tape built for layout, trim work, and everyday jobsite measuring. This is a measuring tape designed for fast, readable measurements with either hand. Model number PSSR-16 AUTO combines FastCap's reverse-read blade layout with an auto-lock mechanism, so the blade stays out where you want it until you press the release button.

The big selling point here is the lefty/righty standard reverse scale. FastCap designed this blade so standard measurements are readable when the tape is pulled from either the right hand or the left hand. If you spend your day measuring sheet goods, case parts, trim, or rough openings from awkward positions, that feature matters more than it sounds on paper. You spend less time twisting the tape around to read it and more time moving to the next cut or mark.

The auto-lock setup is the other feature that makes this tape easier to live with. Pull the blade out and it stays put until you hit the release button to retract it. That gives you better control when you're measuring alone, checking inside dimensions, or transferring marks without the blade snapping back every time you loosen your grip. It is a practical upgrade for anyone who uses a tape all day and wants less fuss out of a basic hand tool.

FastCap also built in a few features that speak directly to finish carpenters and detail-minded users. The case includes an erasable notepad for quick jot-downs and a built-in pencil sharpener, both of which are genuinely useful on punch lists, cabinet installs, and repetitive layout work. The 1 inch wide blade is described as heavy duty, and the high-contrast tape helps keep graduations easier to read in normal working conditions.

In day-to-day use, the rugged compact design is part of the appeal. This is not trying to be the biggest tape on the rack. It is trying to be the one you actually want in your pouch because it is compact, readable, and set up for real measuring work. For carpenters, remodelers, cabinet installers, woodworkers, and serious DIY users who care about fast layout and fewer reading mistakes, that is a smart tradeoff.

If you want a standard tape measure with a familiar 16 foot length but better usability than the average hardware-store option, this one makes sense. The FastCap PSSR-16 AUTO is especially useful for users who switch hands often, work in tight spots, or want built-in jobsite convenience without stepping up to a bulkier specialty tape.
