Starts Clean and Fast The 130 split point tip helps the bit bite quickly without walking. That means more accurate starts in steel and less time fighting the bit on the mark. One Set for Metal Work This Diablo DMD-S15T Metal Demon Drill Bits Set is built for mild steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and sheet metal, so you do not need to keep swapping between specialty metal bits for common shop and jobsite drilling. Built to Last Longer Diablo pairs a Thermal Shield Protective Coating with precision grinding and an optimized flute design to manage heat and clear chips faster. The payoff is better durability and more consistent drilling in tough metal.

Overview

The Diablo DMD-S15T Metal Demon Drill Bits Set is a 15-piece twist drill bit set built for drilling metal with better durability and cleaner starts than standard general-purpose bits. This is a twist drill bit set designed for drilling mild steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and sheet metal. Model Number: DMD-S15T. If you do fabrication work, install hardware in steel, or just want a metal drilling set that covers the common sizes without a bunch of filler pieces, this is the kind of set that earns a permanent spot in the truck or shop.

What matters most here is how these bits start and how they hold up once the cut gets hot. Diablo uses a 130-degree split point tip, which helps reduce walking and makes pre-drilling unnecessary in many common applications. On the job, that means faster layout-to-hole workflow, especially when you are drilling mild steel plate, stainless, or sheet metal where a wandering bit can ruin accuracy fast.

Diablo also leans hard into bit life. The Thermal Shield Protective Coating is there to protect the tip from heat buildup, while the automated precision CNC grinding process is designed to keep the geometry consistent and reduce wear. Add the optimized flute design that clears metal shavings faster, and you get a set aimed at one of the biggest real-world problems in metal drilling: heat. Less heat at the tip usually means steadier performance, less edge breakdown, and fewer bits getting cooked halfway through the job.

This set covers a practical size range from 1/16 in. up to 3/8 in., with one bit each in 15 common sizes. That makes it a smart fit for mechanics, metal fabricators, electricians, HVAC installers, maintenance crews, and serious DIY users who drill through brackets, panels, angle iron, stainless hardware locations, and general steel stock. The 3-flat shank helps the larger bits hold better in the chuck, which is a nice detail when you are leaning on a drill instead of babying it.

While the Metal Demon line is aimed at metal drilling, these bits can also be used on wood and plastic. That does not make this a wood-focused set, and that is actually the honest appeal. It is for buyers who primarily need dependable drill bits for steel and other metals, but still want the flexibility to punch through other materials when the job changes. If metal drilling is your real use case, this is the part of the market where spending a little more up front usually saves you aggravation.

Better Starts in Steel

When you are drilling metal, the first few seconds decide whether the hole goes where you want or turns into a fight. The split point tip is built to start on target and get to work quickly.

• 130 split point tip helps reduce walking
• Designed to make pre-drilling unnecessary in many applications

Runs Cooler Through Tough Material

Heat kills drill bits. Diablo addresses that with a protective coating and flute design meant to move chips out of the hole faster so the cutting edge is not cooking itself.

• Thermal Shield Protective Coating helps protect the tip from heat buildup
• Optimized flute design clears shavings faster for better durability

Useful Sizes, Not Filler

This set gives you one each of 15 common sizes, so it covers a wide range of fastening, bracket, pilot hole, and general metal drilling work without burying you in duplicates you may not need.

• Size range runs from 1/16 in. to 3/8 in.
• 3-flat shank design helps the bit hold more securely in the chuck

Diablo DMD-S15T Metal Demon Drill Bits Set Gets Serious About Metal

If you mainly drill steel and want a set that starts clean, handles heat better, and gives you a practical spread of sizes, this one makes a lot of sense.

• Who it's for: Pros and serious DIY users drilling mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and sheet metal with hand drills or drill presses.
• Why it stands out: The split point tip, heat-focused coating, and chip-clearing flute design all target the stuff that actually matters in metal drilling: accurate starts and bit life.
• Worth knowing: This is a 15-piece set with one bit per size, so it is great as a quality all-around metal set, but if you burn through one specific size every week, you may still want backups of your most-used bits.
