Key Features

Built for Rebar This Diablo hammer drill bit uses a 4-cutter full carbide head that stays working when a standard masonry bit hits rebar and quits. That matters when you cannot move the hole location and still need a clean anchor hole. Fast, Controlled Drilling The impact-resistant 4-cutter head takes smaller bites through tough material for reduced vibration and more consistent wear. You get faster, more accurate holes in concrete, block, brick, and reinforced concrete. Long Bit Life Diablo rates this bit for up to 7 times longer life than standard 2-cutter hammer drill bits. Dura-Carbide, cooler-running flute design, and Tri-Metal Fusion Welding all work together to help the head stay intact under heavy impact.

Overview

The Diablo DMAPL4200 1/2 in. x 16 in. x 18 in. Rebar Demon SDS-Plus 4-Cutter Full Carbide Head Hammer Drill Bit is a long-reach masonry drilling accessory made for rotary hammers. This is a hammer drill bit designed for drilling anchor and through-holes in concrete, reinforced concrete, brick, block, stone, and natural stone. Model Number: DMAPL4200. If your work regularly puts you into cured concrete where rebar can turn a normal bit into scrap, this is the kind of bit you buy on purpose.

The big story here is the full carbide 4-cutter head. Instead of relying on a simpler two-cutter design, Diablo uses an impact-resistant head that takes smaller bites when it meets rebar. In plain terms, that means the bit keeps tracking instead of skating, chipping, or beating itself up the moment it hits embedded steel. The Precision Tip also helps the bit start true, which matters when you need anchor holes to land exactly where laid out.

Diablo also leans hard into heat management and head strength on this Rebar Demon hammer drill bit. The brand states its Dura-Carbide uses up to 2 times more carbide and withstands temperatures up to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, compared to standard bits that fail around 800 degrees Fahrenheit. That higher heat resistance matters because long runs of repetitive drilling and accidental rebar contact are what usually kill masonry bits. Add the Tri-Metal Fusion Welding with up to 3 times stronger weld strength, and the carbide head is better equipped to stay together under repeated hammering.

At 18 inches overall length with a 16 inch working length, this bit gives you reach for thicker assemblies, deeper embedment, or jobs where access is awkward and a stubby bit just will not get it done. The optimized flute design is there for more than looks. It clears dust faster, which helps the head stay cooler and lets the bit keep cutting instead of packing up in the hole. Less packed dust usually means cleaner progress and less wasted time pulling the bit out to clear debris.

On the tool side, the SDS-Plus shank is optimized for corded and cordless SDS-Plus rotary hammers. That makes this a straightforward fit for pros and serious users already running an SDS-Plus platform. Diablo also notes the design is optimized for maximum performance in rotary hammers, so this is not a general purpose drill bit and should be paired with the right hammer drilling tool for the job.

Material coverage is broad for real jobsite use. This bit is made to drill concrete, concrete with rebar, block, brick, stone, and natural stone. That makes it a practical pick for anchor setting, mechanical installs, electrical and plumbing penetrations, railing work, retrofit fastening, and general concrete drilling where conditions change from one hole to the next.

Who should buy it? Contractors, electricians, plumbers, concrete crews, maintenance techs, and remodelers who drill enough masonry to know cheap bits cost more in the long run. If you mostly punch a few shallow holes a year in plain block, you can get by with less. If you drill reinforced concrete, need 1/2 inch holes, and want a long SDS-Plus bit that is built to survive rebar contact, this one makes a lot more sense.

Long Reach Without Giving Up Control

This bit is built for jobs where hole quality matters and the material is not forgiving. The long body gives you reach, while the carbide head and flute design help keep the cut moving when dust, heat, and rebar would normally slow things down.

• 1/2 inch diameter with 18 inch overall length and 16 inch working length
• 4-cutter full carbide head for reduced vibration and more consistent wear
• Optimized flute design removes dust faster to keep the head cooler

Pro Tip

If you are drilling for anchors, keep an eye on the wear mark indicator during repeat holes. It is a quick way to confirm the bit is still cutting to the right size before worn carbide starts affecting anchor fit.

Tool Nut's Take

Tool Nut's Take

Diablo DMAPL4200 is the bit you buy when rebar is not a surprise anymore

This is a purpose-built SDS-Plus hammer drill bit for users who need long reach, cleaner holes, and a better chance of finishing the hole even after hitting steel.

• Who it's for: Pros and serious users drilling 1/2 inch holes in concrete, especially where anchor placement is fixed and rebar contact is a real possibility.
• Why it stands out: The full carbide 4-cutter head, stronger welded construction, and dust-clearing flute design all address the stuff that usually kills masonry bits first.
• Worth knowing: This is a single SDS-Plus bit, not a kit, and it is built for rotary hammers. If you are using the wrong tool or the wrong shank system, you are missing the point of the product.

Common Questions

• What tool does this bit fit? It uses an SDS-Plus shank and is optimized for corded and cordless SDS-Plus rotary hammers.
• Can it drill through rebar? Yes. This Rebar Demon bit is specifically built for concrete with rebar and uses a 4-cutter full carbide head for better performance when it contacts embedded steel.
• What is the usable drilling depth? The working length is 16 inches, with an overall bit length of 18 inches.
• What materials is it made to drill? It is designed for concrete, reinforced concrete, brick, block, stone, and natural stone.
