Overview

The Diablo DDX050CON101C 5 Inch Diamond Continuous Masonry Cut-Off with X-LOCK Arbor is a 5 inch diamond cut-off disc made for angle grinders. This is a diamond masonry cut-off disc designed for clean, precise cutting in tile, porcelain, marble, granite, and other masonry materials. Model Number: DDX050CON101C. If you need a disc that leaves a cleaner edge than an aggressive segmented wheel, this is the right style for finish-focused cutting.

The big selling point here is the continuous rim design. Instead of a broken-up rim aimed at rough, fast demolition-style cutting, this blade stays in constant contact with the material for smoother results. Diablo states this rim design delivers up to 60% smoother cuts, which helps reduce chipping and burn marks on hard surface materials where appearance matters just as much as speed.

Diablo also built this disc around durability, not just cut quality. The disc uses industrial-grade diamonds that wear evenly so fresh cutting surfaces stay exposed longer, and the hardened disc body helps absorb vibration and improve impact resistance. On the job, that translates into a disc that stays usable longer and feels more controlled in the cut, especially on tougher stone and masonry materials.

At 5 inches in diameter with a thin 0.05 inch blade thickness, this masonry cut-off wheel is sized for compact angle grinder work where control matters. It is rated for a maximum 12,200 RPM, so it is built to keep up with high-speed grinder applications. The thin profile helps with precise cutting and reduces unnecessary material loss, which is a real advantage when you are trimming tile, cleaning up edge work, or making detail cuts in finish materials.

One practical advantage is the arbor setup. This disc is designed for X-LOCK and 7/8 inch arbor angle grinders, so it works with newer X-LOCK grinders while remaining backward compatible with common 7/8 inch arbor tools. If you are already on X-LOCK, installation is faster because there are no extra parts needed to mount the disc. Snap it on, pull the lever to remove it, and get back to work.

This cut-off disc can be used wet or dry, which gives you more flexibility depending on the material and the setup. For tile and stone work, wet cutting can help manage heat and surface finish. For quick field cuts where water is not practical, dry cutting keeps the job moving. That kind of flexibility matters for remodelers, tile setters, masons, and general contractors who move between shop prep and jobsite work.

Who should buy it? Anyone using an angle grinder for clean masonry or tile cutting rather than rough demolition. It makes the most sense for tile installers, stone fabricators, remodelers, and contractors who need a smooth finish on porcelain, marble, granite, or tile. If your priority is a cleaner edge and longer disc life, this Diablo disc is a better fit than a rough-cut wheel.
