Overview

The Diablo 1/16 in. Metal Demon Drill Bit for Mild, Hardened and Stainless Steels (model DMD116JB) is built for pros and serious DIYers. This is a metal drill bit designed for drilling mild steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron and sheet metal.

Diablo built Metal Demon to replace the drawer full of titanium, cobalt and black oxide bits most pros carry. One bit handles mild, hardened and stainless steel, plus cast iron, sheet metal, wood and plastic.

The proprietary Thermal Shield Protective Coating forms a heat barrier around the tip, which is what kills most metal bits. Diablo rates it at up to 30X the life of titanium, cobalt and black oxide bits. A CNC-ground Cutting Edge holds tight angle tolerances to drill up to 2X faster, and the bit is rated to drill up to 50% more holes per battery charge.

The 130 degree Hybrid Split Point starts on the mark without a pilot hole or center punch in most material. An optimized flute clears chips fast to keep the tip cool, and a 3-flat shank stops the bit from spinning in the chuck.

This is the bulk version, sold as a single bit, which is the smart way to restock the sizes you use most.

Ideal for metal fabricators, mechanical and HVAC contractors, electricians, maintenance techs and anyone drilling steel.

Stays Sharp in Stainless

Stainless and hardened steel destroy ordinary bits with heat. Metal Demon's coating and geometry are built to survive it.

• Thermal Shield Protective Coating
• 130 degree Hybrid Split Point
• 3-flat shank prevents chuck slip

Pro Tip

In stainless, run slower speed with firm, steady pressure and keep the bit cutting. Letting it rub without cutting work-hardens stainless and dulls any bit fast. A drop of cutting oil helps.

The Diablo 1/16 in. Metal Demon Drill Bit for Mild, Hardened and Stainless Steels: One Bit Replaces Three

Metal Demon is the rare metal bit that earns its price by replacing a whole drawer of specialty bits.

• Who it's for: Pros who drill steel and stainless regularly.
• Why it stands out: Thermal Shield coating, split point and 3-flat shank in one bit.
• Worth knowing: Speed and pressure still matter in stainless. Run it slow and steady.

Common Questions

• Will it drill stainless steel? Yes. It is designed for mild, hardened and stainless steels.
• Do I need a pilot hole? The 130 degree split point is designed to start without one in most material.
