Key Features

Gas-Like Cut Power If you need cordless freedom without giving up serious trimming power, this setup answers that. DEWALT rates it at up to 30% more power than a 28.4cc gas trimmer, so it is built for thick brush and overgrowth, not just light touch-up work. Built for Long Days The lightweight design helps cut down fatigue when you are clearing large properties. DEWALT also claims 26% lower weight versus a comparable 28.4cc gas trimmer, which matters when the job keeps you on the trigger. Dial In the Trim This DEWALT string trimmer gives you 3 speed settings plus an LED dashboard that shows state of charge. That means you can back it down for runtime or turn it up when the weeds get heavy.

Overview

The DeWALT DCST975B 60V MAX 16-1/2 in. Brushless Cordless String Trimmer is a cordless string trimmer built for heavy trimming, overgrowth, and commercial-scale property maintenance. This is a string trimmer designed for cutting grass, weeds, and dense brush with gas-like performance and cordless convenience. Model Number: DCST975B. If you maintain larger lots, roadside edges, fence lines, or rough areas where a light-duty trimmer falls short, this is the kind of tool that makes sense.

What stands out first is the power claim. DEWALT rates this trimmer at up to 30% more power than a 28.4cc gas trimmer, along with up to 67% more max torque versus that same gas class. In practical terms, that means it is aimed at stubborn weeds, thick growth, and brushy cleanup where a weaker cordless trimmer starts to bog down. The 16-1/2 inch swath also helps cover more ground per pass, which matters when you are trimming long property lines or cleaning up big open areas.

The cutting head is set up to handle both .095 inch and .105 inch line, which gives this tool more flexibility than a light-duty homeowner model. If you mostly trim grass around beds and walkways, .095 inch line is a good fit. If your work leans more toward taller weeds and rougher growth, the .105 inch capability gives you a tougher setup. That wider compatibility makes the tool easier to tune for the kind of property you actually maintain.

DEWALT built this around a high-efficiency brushless motor, and that matters for both runtime and durability. Brushless tools waste less energy and generally hold up better under repeated hard use. DEWALT also states up to 69 minutes of no-load runtime per charge in ECO mode when used with a DCB612 battery, sold separately. Real runtime always depends on line size, speed setting, and what you are cutting, but the main takeaway is simple: this tool is meant to stay in the fight longer than the average cordless trimmer.

Jobsite control is another strong point here. The dashboard gives you 3 speed settings along with an LED state-of-charge display on the tool. That is more useful than it sounds. You can run a lower setting when you are doing finish trimming around clean turf to stretch runtime, then step up the speed when you move into heavier growth. Being able to check battery status on the unit also helps you plan the last stretch of a job instead of guessing when it is time to swap packs.

From a handling standpoint, DEWALT calls out a lightweight design intended to reduce fatigue, with a claimed 26% lower weight than a comparable 28.4cc gas trimmer. For crews and property owners working long sessions, lower weight is not just a comfort feature. It means better control, less arm burn, and a tool that stays manageable deeper into the day. Pair that with cordless operation and you also lose the routine gas-engine hassle of mixing fuel, pull starts, hot restarts, and engine maintenance.

This is a tool-only version, so it is best for users already invested in DEWALT's 60V MAX battery platform or buyers who want to choose their own battery setup based on runtime needs. DEWALT specifically references the DCB612 battery for its runtime figure, and batteries and charger are sold separately. That makes this bare tool a better fit for existing DEWALT cordless users than for someone looking for an all-in-one starter kit right out of the box.

Who should buy it? Landscapers, grounds crews, serious acreage owners, and contractors who need a cordless brush-cutting and weed-trimming tool with real output. It is also a strong fit for users moving away from gas but not willing to settle for an underpowered trimmer. If your trimming is occasional and limited to a small suburban lawn, this is probably more tool than you need. If your work involves long fence runs, thick edges, and rough cleanup, this one is aimed squarely at that kind of use.

Clear More Ground Per Pass

The wide cutting path helps this cordless string trimmer move faster across larger areas. When you are trimming long edges or open ground, a bigger swath means fewer passes and less wasted time.

• 16-1/2 inch cutting swath for faster coverage
• Built to handle tough brush and overgrowth, not just light grass

Adjust Power for the Job

Not every trimming job needs full output all the time. The 3-speed setup lets you save battery on lighter work, then step up when you hit dense weeds and rough growth.

• 3 speed settings help balance power and runtime
• LED dashboard shows state of charge on the tool

Built to Replace More Gas Work

This tool is aimed at users who want serious trimming performance without fuel mixing, engine upkeep, or pull starts. The brushless motor and heavy-duty torque make it a better match for demanding landscape work than entry-level cordless trimmers.

• Up to 30% more power versus a 28.4cc gas trimmer
• Up to 67% more max torque versus a 28.4cc gas trimmer
