Overview

The DeWALT DCHT826B 20V MAX XR 24-in. Brushless Cordless Hedge Trimmer is a battery-powered hedge trimmer built for trimming and shaping hedges, bushes, and small branches. This is a hedge trimmer designed for hedge trimming, shrub maintenance, and property cleanup. Model Number: DCHT826B. If you want cordless convenience without stepping down in cutting reach, this one gives you a 24-inch blade, brushless motor, and pro-focused features in a tool-only format.

What stands out first is how this trimmer is set up to move through more material with less wasted motion. DeWALT rates it at 14.3% faster cutting speed, and that matters when you are working down a long hedge line and want a smoother pass instead of going back over the same area. The 24-inch dual-action hardened blades give you useful reach for broad faces and top surfaces, while the 1-inch cut capacity lets you handle thicker growth that would stall lighter-duty hedge trimmers.

The brushless motor is a big part of why this tool makes sense for regular use. Brushless design means longer motor life, lower maintenance, and more efficient battery use than older brushed setups. On a cordless outdoor power tool, that is not just a spec sheet point. It directly affects runtime, heat, and how hard the tool can work before performance starts to drop off. DeWALT also calls out up to 60 minutes of runtime per charge when used with a DCB205 battery under no-load conditions, so buyers already on the 20V MAX platform have a clear idea of where this tool fits in the system.

DeWALT also handled the practical details well. The included hedge sweep helps push clippings away as you work, which makes it easier to keep the cutting path visible and speeds up cleanup on broad hedge tops. The included tip guard helps prevent blade damage when you get close to walls, fencing, or other hard surfaces. Those are the kinds of features that matter more in actual yard work than they do in a spec list, because they help protect the tool and keep the work moving.

For comfort, this model is designed to be lighter than the compared DeWALT hedge trimmer it is benchmarked against, which helps reduce fatigue when you are making long side cuts or reaching across the top of taller hedges. That lighter tool-only design matters most for users doing extended trimming sessions, especially when arm position changes constantly and control matters as much as raw cutting ability.

As part of the DeWALT 20V MAX system, the DeWALT DCHT826B 20V MAX XR 24-in. Brushless Cordless Hedge Trimmer is a smart fit for users who already own compatible DeWALT 20V MAX batteries and chargers. It is sold as a bare tool, so this is best for someone already in the platform or someone intentionally building around it. You get cordless freedom without gas maintenance, pull starts, or extension cords, but still keep the cutting capacity needed for serious hedge maintenance.

This hedge trimmer makes the most sense for landscapers, property maintenance crews, and homeowners who maintain larger shrubs or formal hedges and want something stronger than an entry-level trimmer. It is also a good fit for serious DIY users who want cleaner shaping, better reach, and less fatigue over time. If your work involves frequent hedge trimming and you already run DeWALT batteries, this is the kind of cordless outdoor tool that earns its spot pretty quickly.
