Key Features

Fast Ratchet WorkUp to 450 RPM helps you run down fasteners quicker than a manual ratchet, which matters when you are working through repeated bolts in service and repair work. Swap Drive StylesThe interchangeable anvil setup lets you move between 3/8 inch square drive, 1/4 inch square drive, and 1/4 inch low-profile hex output so one tool covers more fastening situations. Tight-Space ControlThe sealed head, accessible forward and reverse switch, trigger lock, and built-in LED are all there for real under-hood and cramped-access work where visibility and control matter more than bulk.

Overview

The DeWALT DCF520B 20V MAX XR Brushless 1/4-in. & 3/8-in. Sealed Head Ratchet is a cordless sealed head ratchet built for fastening and removing bolts in tight spaces. This is a cordless ratchet designed for service work, mechanical fastening, and hard-to-reach bolt removal. Model Number: DCF520B. If you want ratchet speed without giving up access, this tool is built around that job.

What makes this ratchet stand out is the mix of speed, usable torque, and flexibility. DeWALT rates it at up to 450 RPM with up to 50 ft-lbs of max torque, which means it is aimed at getting through repeated fastening work faster while still having enough force for stubborn hardware. That makes a difference on maintenance jobs, automotive work, equipment service, and install work where you are constantly running fasteners in and out.

The interchangeable anvil design is a big deal here. Instead of locking you into one output, the tool can be set up with a 3/8 inch square drive, 1/4 inch square drive, or a 1/4 inch low-profile hex anvil. In plain terms, that gives you more ways to match the tool to the fastener and the space you are working in. If you bounce between sockets and hex accessories, that versatility can save you from grabbing a second tool.

The sealed head design is not just a styling choice. It is built for work where access is limited and grime is part of the job. DeWALT also made the forward and reverse control easier to reach in tight spots, which matters when you are working around engine bays, behind installed equipment, or inside cabinets and mechanical spaces. The trigger lock is another practical touch because it helps prevent accidental activation when the tool is riding in a bag or tucked into a cramped work area.

On the visibility side, the built-in LED helps light the work surface without forcing you to juggle a separate light. That is especially useful when you are working under a vehicle, inside a utility room, or anywhere the fastener is easy to miss but hard to reach. The brushless motor also matters for a tool like this because it is built to deliver efficient power with less maintenance than a brushed design.

This is a bare tool, so battery and charger are sold separately. It is compatible with DeWALT 20V MAX batteries, which makes it a logical add-on if you are already on that platform and want a dedicated cordless ratchet without starting over on batteries. For buyers already invested in DeWALT cordless tools, that makes the DCF520B easier to justify because it fits into an existing setup.

Who should buy it? This one makes the most sense for mechanics, automotive techs, MRO crews, HVAC installers, industrial maintenance users, and serious DIYers who spend real time around bolts and tight access points. If your work is mostly heavy lug nuts or suspension hardware, this is not a substitute for a high-torque impact wrench. But if you need a fast, compact cordless ratchet for repeated fastening work where clearance is the problem, the DeWALT DCF520B 20V MAX XR Brushless 1/4-in. & 3/8-in. Sealed Head Ratchet is the right kind of tool.
