Overview

The DeWalt DCE310D2 20V MAX Compact Died Crimping Tool Kit is a cordless crimping tool kit built for electricians and utility-focused contractors who need portable, repeatable cable crimps without dragging around a separate hydraulic setup. This is a cordless died crimping tool designed for crimping copper and aluminum cable. Model Number: DCE310D2.

Its working range is what makes it jobsite-relevant. The tool handles cable from #8 up to 600 MCM copper and #8 up to 350 MCM aluminum, so it covers a wide span of service, panel, and feeder work. It accepts DEWALT U-Type dies and is designed to complete UL Classified crimps with compatible connectors from leading manufacturers. That matters because this is not just about squeezing a connector shut. It is about making compliant crimps with the right die and connector combination.

The head rotates 180 degrees, and that is a feature you feel immediately when working inside enclosures, around existing conductors, or anywhere your body position is awkward. The inline layout also helps with one-handed positioning. On jobs where a straight shot is rare, that rotating head can save a lot of time spent repositioning the tool and cable.

DeWalt also built in a manual release trigger for re-alignment mid-crimp. That is a practical feature, not brochure filler. If you need to reset the connector position before finishing the cycle, you can do it without fighting the tool. For work where accuracy matters and access is limited, that kind of control helps reduce wasted lugs and rework.

For visibility and status, the DCE310D2 uses both a bright LED ring and an integrated LED interface. The ring light helps when you are working in dim electrical rooms, service spaces, or behind equipment. The interface communicates power status, cycle completion, and whether recalibration or service is needed. That gives the operator useful feedback right on the tool instead of leaving you guessing.

One of the more useful differences here is the onboard intelligence. Crimp Connect software provides detailed reports of completed work along with tool calibration and service history. If you manage crews, maintain records, or need better traceability on electrical fastening and termination work, this is the kind of feature that makes a real difference after the tool leaves the truck. There is also a chip pocket that accepts a Tool Connect Chip and works with the Tool Connect Site Manager app for jobsite organization.

Because this is a kit, you are not starting from zero. The package includes two 2.0Ah batteries, a charger, shoulder strap, USB-C cable, Tool Connect Chip, and a ToughSystem 2.0 case. That setup makes sense for contractors who need a ready-to-work electrical cable crimper that can move between service calls, commercial build-outs, and maintenance work without piecing together accessories afterward.

If you are an electrician, electrical contractor, maintenance tech, or utility-minded installer dealing with larger copper and aluminum cable, this tool makes a strong case. If your work depends on verified crimp cycles, portable operation, and access in tight spaces, this is the kind of cordless crimping tool that earns its keep quickly.
