Overview

The DEWALT DCCS673X1 60V MAX 12 in. Brushless Cordless Compact Top Handle Chainsaw Kit is a battery-powered top handle chainsaw built for pruning, limbing, and tree removal work where control and maneuverability matter more than bar length. This is a chainsaw designed for tree pruning and removal. Model Number: DCCS673X1. If you need a cordless chainsaw that can move through tight branches and awkward cutting positions without dragging a cord or gas engine into the mix, this is exactly the lane this saw lives in.

On the performance side, DEWALT rates it at 3.42 peak horsepower with a chain speed of 23.6 m/s. That matters because this is not just a light trimming saw that stalls the second the cut gets real. DEWALT also states it can cut through a 10 inch diameter maple log in as fast as 6.8 seconds, which gives you a practical idea of where the power sits. For pros handling pruning and removal work, that means faster branch processing and less waiting on the saw.

The compact top handle layout is the main story here. DEWALT says this design is 22% more compact, and that shows up where it counts: working around limbs, making controlled cuts in harder-to-reach spots, and moving the saw through crowded canopy work or ground cleanup without constantly fighting the body of the tool. The shorter, tighter form factor is the difference between a saw that feels manageable and one that feels like too much tool in the wrong spot.

This DEWALT compact chainsaw is also built with details that matter once you stop reading the spec sheet and start cutting. The cast-magnesium gearcase is there for durability. The all-metal adjustable oiler lets you tune lubrication to the job and conditions. Metal bucking spikes help the saw stay planted in the cut. Tooled chain tensioning keeps adjustment straightforward. An inertia chain brake adds an important layer of control and safety, and the LED dashboard puts key tool information where you can actually see it instead of making you guess.

Because it is part of the DEWALT 60V MAX system, this cordless chainsaw fits into the FLEXVOLT battery platform. The included DCB609 battery gives you the kind of runtime and output expected from DEWALT's dual-voltage setup, and that same battery platform also works across other DEWALT 20V MAX and 60V MAX tools. For buyers already on FLEXVOLT, that makes this an easy add. For first-time users, this kit gets you started with a battery and charger instead of leaving you to piece the setup together separately.

There is also some real-world fleet value here. This saw is Tool Connect Chip Ready, which means it can be integrated into the Tool Connect system when paired with the DEWALT chip, sold separately. For companies managing crews, equipment, and multiple jobsites, that can make tracking and asset management a lot easier than relying on tape labels and memory.

Who should buy it? This saw makes the most sense for tree care pros, landscapers, property maintenance crews, and serious users who want a compact cordless chainsaw for pruning and removal work. It is especially useful when mobility, balance, and fast setup matter. If you need a long-bar felling saw for bigger wood all day, this is not that tool. If you need a powerful compact saw that is easier to manage in tighter spaces, this one is right on target.

DEWALT DCCS673X1 Compact Control in Tight Work Areas

Built for Real Cutting, Not Just Light Trimming
