Overview

The DEWALT DCCS673B 60V MAX 12 in. Brushless Cordless Compact Top Handle Chainsaw is a cordless top handle chainsaw built for arbor work, tree pruning, and removal where control matters as much as raw power. This is a cordless top handle chainsaw designed for tree pruning and removal. Model Number: DCCS673B. If you already run on the DEWALT 60V MAX platform and want a compact saw that can work in tighter spaces without giving up serious cutting speed, this is the one DEWALT aimed at.

The numbers here actually mean something on the job. DEWALT rates it at up to 3.42 peak horsepower with a 23.6 m/s chain speed, and states it can cut through a 10-inch diameter maple log in as fast as 6.8 seconds when used with a DCB609 battery sold separately. That tells you this is not just a light-duty limbing saw. It is meant to move quickly through real wood while keeping cuts smooth and consistent.

Where this saw separates itself is size and handling. DEWALT says the design is 22% more compact, which matters when you are working around branches, climbing gear, or confined cutting angles where a larger saw becomes a nuisance. The top handle format gives you the kind of balance and positioning pros look for in pruning and removal work, and the compact body helps when maneuverability is the whole game.

DEWALT also gave this saw the kind of hard-use features that keep a cordless chainsaw practical instead of frustrating. The cast-magnesium gearcase adds durability in a high-stress area. The all-metal adjustable oiler lets you tune lubrication to the job and conditions. Metal bucking spikes help you brace the saw in the cut, and the tooled chain tensioning setup keeps the bar and chain secure when you need to dial things back in.

For day-to-day use, the safety and visibility features are worth noting. An inertia chain brake adds an important layer of control, and the LED dashboard gives you quick access to vital tool information without guesswork. There is also a D-ring harness attachment point for users working in setups where that matters, though the harness itself is not included.

This saw is part of the DEWALT 60V MAX system, so it makes the most sense for users already invested in that battery platform. It is also Tool Connect Chip-Ready, which means you can add DEWALT asset tracking and location features with the optional chip and the DEWALT Site Manager app. For crews that manage a lot of tools, that can be a real advantage, especially on larger properties or multi-team jobs.

Because this is a tool-only cordless chainsaw, it ships without a battery or charger. That is great for existing FLEXVOLT users who just need the saw, but first-time buyers should factor in the cost of a compatible battery and charger. DEWALT specifically references performance with the DCB609 battery.

Who should buy it? This is a strong fit for arborists, landscapers, property maintenance crews, and serious users who need a compact battery chainsaw for pruning, limbing, and removal work. If you want a saw that is easier to position than a larger rear-handle unit but still has the speed and build to handle demanding cuts, this DEWALT top handle chainsaw earns a close look.
