Key Features

Better Fastener Grip DirectTorque technology helps the DEWALT deep socket grip fasteners more cleanly and helps reduce rounding when you're leaning on stuck hardware. Deep Reach The deep socket design gives you the reach needed for nuts on longer studs, making it a better fit for automotive and mechanical work than a shallow socket. Built for Repeated Use Chrome vanadium steel and a polished chrome finish give this socket the strength for shop use and the corrosion resistance that matters in a toolbox that actually gets used.

Overview

The DEWALT DWMT86095OSP 6 Point 1/4'' Drive Deep Socket 7MM is a metric deep socket built for turning 7 millimeter fasteners with a 1/4 inch drive ratchet or socket wrench. This is a deep socket designed for mechanical fastening where you need extra reach over studs or recessed nuts. Model Number: DWMT86095OSP. If you work on automotive trim, small engine hardware, equipment covers, or general assembly, this is the kind of single-size socket you keep close because it solves a very specific problem fast.

What matters here is not just the size. The 6 point opening gives you stronger contact on the flat sides of the fastener compared to looser multi-point options, which is exactly what you want when the hardware is worn, lightly corroded, or easy to round off. DEWALT also calls out DirectTorque technology, which is meant to improve grip and help prevent rounding. On the job, that translates to a socket that is better suited for real service work instead of just spinning easy hardware on and off.

The deep body is the other reason to buy this socket instead of a standard shallow version. When a nut sits on a longer threaded stud, a shallow socket bottoms out before the fastener is fully engaged. A deep socket fixes that. It lets you reach farther down without switching tools or working at an angle, which helps you stay square on the fastener and keep from slipping.

DEWALT uses chrome vanadium steel here, which is a proven material for hand sockets because it balances strength, wear resistance, and durability in repeated shop use. The polished chrome finish is not just for looks. It helps resist chipping and flaking and makes cleanup easier when the socket picks up grease or grime. Hard stamped markings are another practical touch because laser-etched or lightly printed markings tend to disappear over time in a real toolbox.

There is also a knurled control ring on the socket body, which gives you better finger grip when you are starting a fastener by hand or pulling a socket out of a crowded rail. That sounds minor until your hands are oily or you're working in a tight spot. Small usability details like that matter more on individual sockets than people think, especially when you're grabbing them dozens of times a day.

Compatibility is straightforward. This socket uses a 1/4 inch drive interface, so it pairs with standard 1/4 inch drive ratchets, extensions, breaker bars, and adapters. The 7 millimeter size makes it a fit for metric fastening tasks, and the 6 point design is aimed at standard 6-sided hex fasteners. It is a hand socket, so the value is in controlled fastening and removal work where fit and grip matter.

This DEWALT socket makes the most sense for mechanics, technicians, maintenance crews, and serious DIY users who want a dedicated 7 millimeter deep socket instead of relying on a loose-fitting substitute. If you do repetitive metric service work, a single well-made socket like this saves time, protects fasteners, and earns its place in the drawer.

Reach Recessed Metric Fasteners

A deep socket matters when a standard socket will not clear the stud length or recessed hardware. This one is built to give you that extra reach while keeping a compact 1/4 inch drive format for lighter-duty mechanical work.

• 7 millimeter metric socket size for small fasteners
• Deep socket profile for nuts on longer studs
• 1/4 inch drive fits common small-drive ratchets and extensions

Pro Tip

Use a deep 7 millimeter socket like this when the nut sits on a long stud, even if a shallow socket seems close. Staying fully seated on the fastener does more to prevent rounding than forcing a shorter socket that barely grabs.
