Key Features

1/4 in Drive Fit This DEWALT socket is built for 1/4 inch drive ratchets and extensions, which makes it a practical replacement or add-on for compact mechanic and homeowner socket sets. 6-Point Grip The 6-point opening is made to hold the flats of the fastener more securely, helping reduce rounding compared to looser multi-point contact. Easy to Handle Knurled rings and hard-stamped markings make this socket easier to grip, identify, and use when your hands are dirty or you're working fast.

Overview

The DEWALT DWMT86024OSP 6 Point 1/4'' Drive Socket 1/4'' SAE is a single shallow hand socket for turning 1/4 inch SAE fasteners with a 1/4 inch drive ratchet, extension, or similar hand tool. This is a socket designed for fastening and loosening 1/4 inch SAE hardware. Model Number: DWMT86024OSP. If you need a direct replacement for a missing socket or want to fill a gap in a 1/4 inch drive set, this is the size you grab for small fasteners where control matters more than brute force.

What matters here is the combination of a 6-point opening and DEWALT's DirectTorque design. In plain terms, that means the socket is intended to grip the fastener more cleanly and help prevent rounding the corners, especially on worn or stubborn hardware. On small nuts and bolts, that matters a lot. Once you round a 1/4 inch fastener, the job slows down in a hurry. A well-fitting 6-point socket helps avoid that.

This socket is also built for real hand use, not just catalog specs. The knurled control ring gives you better grip when you're starting a fastener by hand or pulling the socket off a tray, organizer, or extension. The hard-stamped size markings are there for the long haul, so you can still read the size after the finish sees regular shop use. For anyone who has dealt with laser marks wearing off cheap sockets, that is a small feature that makes a real difference.

Material and finish are part of the value too. It is made of chrome vanadium steel with a chrome finish for resistance to chipping and flaking. That is the standard combo you want in a general-use hand socket because it balances strength, corrosion resistance, and easy cleanup. It is not flashy, but it is the right material choice for a socket that is going to live in a toolbox and get used over and over.

Because this is a shallow 1/4 inch drive socket, it makes the most sense anywhere compact access and smaller hardware are part of the job. Think automotive trim and light mechanical work, equipment maintenance, appliances, small engine service, and general shop repairs. It is also a smart replacement piece if you have a DEWALT or mixed-brand socket set with one missing size. You are not paying for a full set just to replace one of the most commonly used small SAE sockets.

Who should buy it? Anyone building out a mechanic's drawer, maintaining equipment, or replacing a lost socket in a 1/4 inch drive set. If you work mostly with small fasteners and want a dedicated 1/4 inch SAE socket with a readable marking, solid grip, and better fastener contact, this is the right kind of simple tool. It is not complicated, and that is the point. A socket like this earns its keep by fitting right, holding up, and being easy to find when you need it.

Better Control on Small Fasteners

On small hardware, fit is everything. A shallow 6-point socket gives you a more secure hold on the flats of the fastener, which helps when you're working on compact assemblies where stripped corners turn a quick job into a headache.

• 1/4 inch SAE socket size for small fasteners
• 6-point design helps reduce rounding
• DirectTorque technology is built around better fastener contact

Easy to Grip, Easy to Identify

A lot of replacement sockets fail in the little details. This one keeps the size easy to read and adds grip where your fingers actually touch it, which speeds things up when you're swapping sockets during repair or maintenance work.

• Hard-stamped markings resist wear over time
• Knurled ring improves grip during handling
• Good fit for replacing a missing socket in an existing set

Compact Size for Tight Access

Small drive sockets are all about access. This shallow pattern keeps the overall size compact so you can work in spots where a deeper socket is more tool than the job needs.

• Shallow socket format suits tight spaces
• Approximate overall length shown as 1.0 in (2 cm)
• Built for 1/4 inch drive hand tool setups
