Key Features

Deep 16 mm Reach This deep impact socket gives you the reach to get onto recessed fasteners without fighting for clearance. That matters when studs or surrounding hardware get in the way of a standard socket. 6-Point Grip The 6-point design is built to engage the flats of the fastener more securely. That helps reduce rounding when you are putting real torque through a 1/2 inch drive impact wrench setup. Easy to Handle A knurled control ring and hard stamped markings make this socket easier to grab and easier to identify over time. That saves frustration when your hands are oily and the toolbox is full.

Overview

The DEWALT DWMT73948OSP 6 Point 1/2'' Drive Deep Impact Socket 16MM is a single deep impact socket built for high-torque fastening and removal work. This is a deep impact socket designed for driving and removing 16 mm fasteners with a 1/2 inch square drive tool. Model Number: DWMT73948OSP. It is a straightforward piece, but it covers a common need in automotive and equipment work where a standard-depth socket just will not reach.

The main advantage here is the combination of a 16 mm deep profile and 6-point geometry. The deep body helps you reach over longer fastener threads or onto recessed nuts, while the 6-point opening is a better choice for impact use than a multi-point design when you want solid contact on stubborn hardware. DEWALT also calls out Direct Torque Technology, which is intended to help prevent rounding of fasteners. In plain terms, that means better contact where it counts when you are leaning on an impact wrench.

For day-to-day use, small details matter just as much as the size stamp. This socket includes a knurled control ring for added grip when handling it by hand, which is useful when your hands are dirty, gloved, or slick with oil. The chamfered open end helps the socket start onto the fastener more easily, so you spend less time fiddling to get it seated. Hard stamped markings are another practical touch because painted or lightly etched size markings tend to disappear after real shop use.

This DEWALT impact socket is made for impact duty, not light hand-tool-only use. The 1/2 inch drive size puts it in the range most mechanics, installers, and maintenance crews already use for heavier fastening jobs. If your work regularly involves suspension hardware, machinery bolts, or general service work where 16 mm shows up often, this is the kind of socket that earns a permanent spot in the drawer instead of floating around as an occasional extra.

The finish and overall build are geared toward jobsite and shop durability rather than looks. It has a brushed finish and chrome vanadium construction. More importantly, the product is positioned as an impact socket with a deep well and a grip-focused outer surface, which tells you it is meant to be used, dropped in a tray, and grabbed repeatedly without becoming a mystery socket six months later.

Compatibility is simple and important: this socket is made for a 1/2 inch square drive interface. That makes it a direct fit for 1/2 inch drive impact wrenches, ratchets, breaker bars, and adapters that accept standard square-drive sockets. If you already run 1/2 inch drive tools and need a deep 16 mm socket for fastening, service work, or mechanical repair, this is the right kind of one-piece addition to fill that gap without buying a whole set.

Who should buy it? Anyone who specifically needs a deep 16 mm impact socket and wants a name-brand option with clear markings and a lifetime warranty. It makes the most sense for automotive work, mechanical service, maintenance, and general repair where a 1/2 inch drive setup is already part of the workflow. If you do not need the deep reach or if your tools are built around a different drive size, buy accordingly. But if 16 mm deep access is the job, this is exactly the kind of socket you want.
