Overview

This is a 16-inch adjustable pry bar with an integrated nail puller, designed for prying up boards, trim, and decking while also pulling the fasteners holding them down. The Crescent 16-in. Adjustable Pry Bar with Nail Puller (Model DB16-07) is built around a clamping, adjustable jaw at one end and a nail-puller slot with two raised striking surfaces at the other, so you can grip and lift a board and then pull its fasteners without swapping tools.

The adjustable jaw is what separates this from a standard fixed pry bar. It slides open and clamps onto the edge of a board, deck plank, or piece of trim, giving you a mechanical grip point instead of relying on friction and leverage alone. That matters on decking and board-bending work in particular, where you need the bar to hold its bite while you lever the material up. The opposite end carries a crow bar-style nail puller slot, backed by two raised striking surfaces built for direct hammer or mallet strikes to seat the claw and drive the tool where it needs to go.

Construction is heat-treated forged alloy steel finished in a powder paint over a phosphate coating, which is a corrosion-resistant combination built to hold up outdoors on deck tear-offs and exterior demolition. Precision-ground edges on the working ends are shaped to minimize damage to surfaces you're trying to keep intact, and the dual-material orange and black grip is there to keep your hands in control when you're putting real force into a stuck board.

At 16 inches, this pry bar sits between Crescent's compact nail pullers and its longer 24-inch adjustable bar long enough to generate real leverage on deck boards and larger trim, short enough to still work in tighter spaces like crawlspaces, closets, and stairwells. For heavier demolition or longer boards, Crescent's 24-inch adjustable pry bar with nail puller (DB24-07) delivers more reach and leverage.

This is a fit for deck builders and remodelers doing board replacement, general contractors handling trim and subfloor demo, and DIYers tackling a deck rebuild or interior renovation who want one tool that both pries and pulls nails.

Clamp, Lift, Pull One Tool

Board removal usually means switching between a pry bar and a nail puller. The adjustable jaw on this bar clamps onto the board itself, so you can lift it and then flip to the nail puller end to clear the fasteners without reaching for a second tool.

• Adjustable jaw slides open and clamps onto boards and trim
• Nail puller slot with two raised striking surfaces on the opposite end
• Precision-ground edges reduce damage to surrounding material

Grip That Holds Up Under Load

Prying a stuck deck board or trim piece puts real force through your hands. The dual-material grip is built to stay planted so you can put your weight into the bar without it twisting or sliding in your hands.

• Orange and black dual-material grip for comfort and control
• Phosphate-coated powder finish resists corrosion outdoors
• Heat-treated forged alloy steel construction

Pro Tip

Clamp the adjustable jaw as close to a fastener as you can before you start prying the closer your grip point is to the nail, the less the board flexes and the cleaner it comes up.

Tool Nut's Take

Tool Nut's Take

A Pry Bar and Nail Puller in One Trip Up the Ladder

The Crescent 16-in. Adjustable Pry Bar with Nail Puller cuts out the tool-swapping on board and trim removal by putting a clamping pry end and a nail puller on the same bar.

• Who it's for: Deck builders, remodelers, and DIYers pulling up boards, trim, or decking and pulling the fasteners underneath.
• Why it stands out: The adjustable, clamping jaw is the standout it grips the material instead of just prying against it, which gives you more control on stubborn boards.
• Worth knowing: This is not an indexing pry bar the head doesn't rotate so if you need to work fastener angles from multiple directions, Crescent's indexing flat pry bars (DB18X-06, DB30X-06) are the better fit.
