Overview

The Boss Hammers BPST11 11-5/8 in. Steel Paw is a construction-grade nail puller built for framing, teardown, and general carpentry work. This is a cats paw nail puller designed for pulling embedded nails and giving you a compact pry tool that can take jobsite abuse. Model Number: BPST11. If you spend your day around forms, framing lumber, temporary bracing, or demo, this is the kind of hand tool that earns a permanent spot in the belt.

What matters here is the balance between size and usable leverage. At 11-5/8 inches long and about 1.1 pounds, it is long enough to get under and pull nails with authority, but short enough to keep close without becoming a nuisance. That makes it a practical choice for carpenters and remodelers who need a steel paw that can move from rough pull-out work to quick cleanup without carrying a full-size wrecking bar.

The working end is steel, which is exactly what you want in a tool that is meant to bite into wood, get under fasteners, and survive repeated striking. This one is aimed at heavy-duty framing and demo work, not light trim duty. The listed striking face helps you drive the claw where it needs to go, which is a real advantage when a nail head is buried or beat up. The four pull points also give you more than one way to attack a stubborn fastener instead of fighting the same angle every time.

The wood handle keeps the feel familiar for anyone who prefers traditional hand tools over rubber-heavy modern designs. It gives the tool a straightforward, no-nonsense grip that fits the category. It also has a 13 millimeter hex wrench feature, which adds some extra utility for users who want one more jobsite-ready function built into the tool.

From a practical standpoint, this is the right kind of tool for work where nails need to come out fast and clean enough to keep moving. In framing, that means correcting misses, pulling bent nails, or stripping temporary material. In demo, it means getting aggressive with embedded fasteners without switching tools every few minutes. For remodeling crews, it is the sort of compact pry and pull tool that handles the daily annoying stuff before it becomes a time-waster.

If you want a compact demolition hand tool that can live in your pouch and deal with real nails in real lumber, the Boss Hammers BPST11 11-5/8 in. Steel Paw makes sense. It is best for framers, remodelers, general contractors, and serious DIY users who want a dedicated steel paw instead of making a flat bar do everything.

Pro Tip

Use the striking face to set the claw under buried nail heads instead of trying to force it in by hand. Once it bites, work through the available pull points to find the cleanest angle before you lean on it.
