Overview

The Boss Hammers BHPPS14TIM 14 oz. Pro Plus Titanium Milled Face Hammer is a premium titanium framing hammer built for pros and serious users who want speed, control, and less fatigue over a long day. This is a hammer designed for driving nails in framing and general carpentry work. Model Number: BHPPS14TIM.

The big story here is the 14 oz titanium head paired with a milled striking face. In real use, that means you get the faster feel and reduced sting that makes titanium hammers popular on framing crews, along with a face pattern that helps grip nail heads on the first strike. If you spend your day setting nails overhead, working off a ladder, or moving quickly through rough framing, that extra control matters.

This Pro Plus version is built around a thicker handle, listed at 20% thicker than standard, with a non-slip rubber grip. That combination points to a hammer made for users who want a more secure hold and a little more confidence in the swing. A thicker handle can make a real difference for users who find slim-handled hammers too lively or harsh, especially during repetitive fastening work.

Boss also includes practical jobsite features instead of fluff. The side nail extractor gives you another way to pull nails without constantly changing your grip or reaching for another tool. There is also a 1/4 inch tether hole, which is a useful detail for elevated work where tool retention matters.

Material-wise, this hammer uses a titanium head with a rubber handle interface, and the listed total item weight is 2.1 lbs. That tells you this is not just about keeping the head light on paper. It is a complete hammer built to balance durability, grip, and everyday carry on the belt or in hand.

This hammer makes the most sense for carpenters, framers, remodelers, and general contractors who want a higher-end striking tool and already know why titanium earns its keep. If you want a milled face hammer that is easier on the body than a heavier steel option, while still giving you the aggressive nail-starting face and jobsite-ready features pros actually use, this one lands in the right spot. It is also made in the USA, which will matter to buyers looking for domestic manufacturing in a pro-grade hammer.

Pro Tip

A milled face like this one is a smart choice when you are doing rough framing or starting nails at awkward angles because it helps the hammer face stay planted on the hit. If you are working on finished surfaces, keep a smooth-face hammer nearby so you do not leave face marks where they do not belong.
