No-Skate Starts The split-point tip is built for clean, accurate starts without wandering across the surface. That means less walking on metal and fewer ruined holes. Titanium-Coated Life Titanium nitride coating reduces friction and helps the bits last up to 2X longer than standard drill bits. If you drill metal regularly, that matters fast. Full-Range Metal Set This Bosch drill bit set covers common sizes from 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch in a 29-piece case. You get a solid spread for general drilling in high-carbon steel, light-gauge metal, wood, and plastic.

Overview

The Bosch TI29 29-Piece Titanium Metal Drill Bit Set is a 29-piece twist drill bit set built for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. This is a drill bit set designed for general-application drilling, especially in high-carbon steel and light-gauge metal. Model Number: TI29. It is a practical fit for HVAC techs, facility maintenance crews, contractors, and serious DIY users who need a broad size range in one case instead of piecing together loose bits.

What makes this set matter is how it handles the part that usually wastes time: getting started cleanly. Bosch uses a split-point, no-skate tip so the bit starts where you put it instead of sliding around on the work surface. On sheet metal and smooth steel, that means less punching, less repositioning, and more accurate holes. If you do repetitive fastening, bracket installs, or pilot holes in metal framing, that cleaner start is not a small detail.

The titanium nitride coating is here for a reason, not just for color. Bosch states it generates less friction and helps deliver up to 2X longer life than standard drill bits. For anyone drilling a mix of light-gauge metal, high-carbon steel, PVC, wood, and plastic, lower friction means the bit stays usable longer and cuts with less drag. That is the kind of feature you notice after a few jobs when cheap bits would already be dull or heat-stained.

Bosch also addressed grip where larger bits tend to slip. Bits 3/16 inch and larger use a three-flat shank design that promotes better holding power in the chuck. In plain terms, the drill grabs the bit more securely, which helps reduce spinning in the chuck when you lean into tougher material. That matters most when stepping up hole sizes in metal or using the larger end of the set where torque load goes up.

This set is laid out to cover a wide run of common fractional sizes, from 1/16 inch through 1/2 inch, and the diameters are clearly marked for quick identification. On the job, that saves more time than most people think. You are not sorting through mismatched bits or second-guessing size markings when you need to move from a pilot hole to final size. The included case keeps the set organized so it is easier to keep complete and easier to grab for service work or punch-list tasks.

From a use-case standpoint, this set is aimed squarely at general drilling rather than specialty-only work. It is a strong choice if you move between steel, light metal, wood backing, plastic trim, and utility materials in the same day. That makes it especially useful for maintenance techs, HVAC installers, remodelers, and general contractors who need one metal drill bit set that covers everyday sizes without overcomplicating things.

If you mainly need bits for occasional homeowner use, this may be more set than you need. But if your work regularly involves drilling clean holes in metal and you are tired of bits skating, dulling early, or slipping in the chuck, the Bosch TI29 29-Piece Titanium Metal Drill Bit Set makes sense. It is a straightforward, work-ready kit with features that solve real drilling problems instead of just adding packaging hype.

Start Cleaner in Metal

The split-point tip is built to start accurately with less skating, which is one of the biggest pain points when drilling steel and other slick materials.

• No-skate tip supports cleaner, more controlled hole starts
• Designed for general drilling in high-carbon steel and light-gauge metal

Built to Last Longer Under Friction

Titanium nitride coating helps reduce friction, which is a direct factor in bit life when you drill metal regularly. Bosch rates this design for up to 2X longer life than standard drill bits.

• Titanium nitride coated bit material
• Made for repeated general-purpose drilling across multiple materials

Better Grip on Larger Sizes

On bits 3/16 inch and larger, Bosch uses a three-flat shank to help the chuck hold more securely. That helps reduce slipping when you step up into larger holes and put more load on the drill.

• Three-flat shank on 3/16 inch and larger bits
• Helps improve bit retention during tougher drilling

Keep the Full Size Range Organized

A good drill bit set is only useful if it stays complete. The included case keeps all 29 fractional sizes together so you can find what you need quickly and keep track of the bits that usually go missing first.

• 29-piece set covers sizes from 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch
• High-visibility diameter markings make sizing easier

Pro Tip

When you move into the 3/16 inch and larger bits, take an extra second to seat the three-flat shank evenly in the chuck before tightening. You will get better grip and less chance of the bit spinning under load in metal.

Why the Bosch TI29 29-Piece Titanium Metal Drill Bit Set Earns a Spot in the Truck

This is the kind of drill bit set that covers the everyday stuff well, especially if metal drilling is part of your regular week.

• Who it's for: HVAC techs, maintenance crews, contractors, and anyone who needs a reliable fractional-size metal drill bit set instead of a random pile of loose bits.
• Why it stands out: The no-skate split point helps holes start where you want them, and the three-flat shank on larger bits is a real improvement when the chuck would normally let a bit slip.
• Worth knowing: This is a general-purpose set, not a specialty-only kit. If your work jumps between metal, wood, and plastic, that is exactly why it makes sense.

Common Questions

• What materials is this set designed to drill? Bosch states these bits are designed for general-application drilling in high-carbon steel, light-gauge metal, wood, and plastic.
• Do the larger bits have a different shank design? Yes. Bits 3/16 inch and larger use a three-flat shank to promote better grip and help guard against slipping.
• What is the size range in the set? The set includes 29 fractional sizes from 1/16 inch up to 1/2 inch.
• Is there a warranty? Yes. The listed warranty is lifetime against manufacturer's defects.
