Overview

The FastCap PMS-FLAT16 ProCarpenter FlatBack Metric/Standard 16 ft Tape Measure is a dual-scale measuring tape built for carpenters, remodelers, cabinet installers, and serious DIY users who need a tape that works better on more than just straight edges. This is a tape measure designed for measuring and marking both straight and curved surfaces. Model Number: PMS-FLAT16.

What sets this ProCarpenter FlatBack tape measure apart is the flat blade design. Instead of fighting a heavily curved tape when you are working around trim, round stock, pipe, or other contoured material, the blade bends easily and lays flatter against the work. That matters because a tape that sits flat is easier to read, easier to mark from, and less likely to shift when you are trying to transfer a dimension.

This version uses both metric and standard markings, which is a real advantage in mixed shops and on jobs where plans, hardware, or manufactured parts may call for different units. You do not need to keep switching tools or converting measurements in your head. For finish carpentry, installation work, and layout where speed matters, that is one less slowdown during the day.

FastCap also built in a few details that regular users tend to appreciate right away. The compact housing is easier to carry than bulkier tapes, and the heavy-duty protective rubber boot helps it handle daily jobsite use. The ergonomic belt clip keeps it close without being awkward on your belt or pocket. These are small things until you use a tape all day, every day.

Like other tape measures in the FastCap ProCarpenter line, this one includes the FastPad for jotting down measurements directly on the case and a built-in pencil sharpener. Those are not gimmicks. If you do punch lists, cut lists, cabinet installs, trim work, or repetitive layout, having a place to write and a way to keep your pencil ready saves little bits of time all day long.

The 16 ft length hits a practical middle ground. It is enough reach for interior layout, millwork, trim, cabinetry, and general measuring work, while still staying compact enough to carry constantly. If most of your work is inside finished spaces or around detailed assemblies, a 16 ft tape measure often feels faster and less clumsy than a larger framing tape.

This FastCap tape measure makes the most sense for users who want better control on detailed measuring tasks, especially where curved profiles or mixed-unit dimensions show up often. If your work is mostly precision layout, finish work, or installation rather than long open-span framing measurements, the flat blade design is the reason to buy this one.

Measure Curves Without Fighting the Tape

The flatback design is the whole point here. When you need to measure around rounded edges, curved trim, or other uneven profiles, this tape measure conforms more naturally than a standard curved blade.

• 16 ft tape length for everyday interior and finish work
• Metric and standard graduations on one tape for easier cross-system measuring
