Key Features

1/2 Inch Drive Fit Built for 1/2 inch square drive ratchets and related hand tools, so it fits the common setup used for tougher fastening and removal work. DirectTorque Grip DirectTorque technology is designed to contact the flats of the fastener more effectively, which helps reduce rounding when you lean on stubborn 15 millimeter hardware. Stamped to Last Hard-stamped size markings and a knurled control ring make this socket easier to identify and handle after it has spent real time in a toolbox or on the bench.

Overview

The DEWALT DWMT86515OSP 6 Point 1/2'' Drive Socket 15MM is a standard depth hand socket for turning 15 millimeter fasteners with a 1/2 inch drive ratchet, breaker bar, or torque wrench. This is a hand socket designed for fastening and loosening 15 millimeter hex fasteners. Model Number: DWMT86515OSP. If you want a simple, durable socket for automotive work, equipment service, or general shop use, this is the size-specific piece that belongs in the drawer instead of a one-size-fits-all workaround.

The main selling point here is the 6-point design. On the job, that matters because a 6-point socket grips the flats of the fastener more securely than designs that spread load across corners. DEWALT also uses DirectTorque technology to help prevent rounding, which is exactly what you want when dealing with rusted bolts, tight factory fasteners, or hardware that has already seen a few questionable repair attempts.

Material matters on sockets, and this one is made from chrome vanadium steel. That gives it the strength expected from a shop-grade hand socket while the polished chrome finish helps resist chipping and flaking over time. For anyone who works around oil, grease, and regular wipe-downs, that finish also makes cleanup easier than rougher unfinished sockets.

DEWALT added practical details that make a difference in day-to-day use. The chamfered open end helps the socket start onto a fastener more easily, which saves time when you're working in awkward positions or moving quickly through repeated service tasks. The knurled control ring gives you extra grip when starting a fastener by hand, especially if your hands are slick or you're reaching into a tight space where finger control matters more than tool speed.

Hard-stamped markings are another small feature that pays off later. Painted or lightly etched markings tend to disappear once a socket spends enough time in a tool bag or metal drawer. A clearly stamped 15 millimeter marking makes size identification faster, which keeps you moving when you are bouncing between metric hardware sizes during repair and assembly work.

This DEWALT socket is a good fit for mechanics, maintenance techs, general contractors, and serious DIY users who want individual replacement sockets or who prefer building out a custom set one size at a time. It is especially useful for anyone who regularly works on vehicles, machinery, or equipment where 15 millimeter fasteners show up often. If you need one dependable standard socket instead of a bulky set, this is the straightforward buy.
