Key Features

Built for Softer Stock The coarse thread bites hard in pine, plywood, particle board, medium-density fiberboard, and melamine, so pocket-hole joints lock up with solid holding power. Washer Head Hold The Maxi-Loc washer head seats flush at the bottom of the pocket and helps prevent pull-through, which matters most in plywood and composite materials. Self-Tapping Point A Type 17 auger tip helps the screw start cleanly and drive easier, cutting down on extra prep when you are assembling indoor wood joinery.

Overview

Kreg Tool SML-C125-1200 Zinc Pocket-Hole Screws are indoor wood-joinery fasteners made for pocket-hole assembly in softer sheet goods and lumber. This is a pocket-hole screw designed for fastening wood joints in indoor projects with limited exposure to the elements. Model Number: SML-C125-1200. In this pack, you get 1,200 screws sized at #8 x 1-1/4 in., which makes this a practical bulk option for cabinet work, shop projects, furniture builds, and repeat production runs.

Where these screws earn their keep is material fit. Kreg calls out the coarse thread for softer materials like pine, plywood, particle board, medium-density fiberboard, and melamine. That matters because thread style is not just a spec on the label. In softer material, a coarse thread grabs more aggressively, which helps the joint pull tight without stripping out as easily as the wrong fastener can.

The Maxi-Loc washer head is one of the most important details here. Instead of concentrating force on a small point, the broad washer-style head spreads the load at the bottom of the pocket hole. In real use, that helps the screw seat flush and reduces the chance of pulling through thin-faced plywood or composite panels. If you build a lot of boxes, face frames, utility cabinets, or jigs, that head style is a big reason these are a go-to pocket-hole screw.

Kreg also uses a Type 17 auger tip for self-tapping performance. That gives the screw a cleaner start and helps it advance without as much fighting on the driver. It is a small feature that saves time when you are driving a lot of screws in one session, and it helps keep assembly moving when you do not want to stop and predrill for every connection.

Finish matters too. These are zinc pocket-hole screws, which Kreg positions as a solid choice for indoor projects with limited moisture exposure. They offer basic rust protection at a more affordable cost than the brand's higher-corrosion-resistance Blue-Kote and stainless options. That makes them the right pick when the build is staying inside and you want dependable holding power without paying for outdoor-grade protection you do not need.

Drive style is square, which is a good match for pocket-hole work because it helps keep the bit engaged under load. The larger diameter steel shank called out in the supplementary data also points to a screw built for strength, not just convenience. When you are clamping parts, pulling joints together, and driving into common cabinet materials, that extra strength is worth having.

This pack makes the most sense for woodworkers, cabinet installers, finish carpenters, remodelers, and serious do-it-yourself users who already rely on pocket-hole joinery and burn through fasteners regularly. If your work is mostly indoor furniture, storage, utility builds, shelving, or plywood assembly, this size and thread pattern are right in the wheelhouse. If the project lives outdoors or sees regular moisture, step up to a more corrosion-resistant screw. For indoor joinery, though, this is the straightforward, workhorse option.

Fast, Reliable Indoor Joinery

These screws are made to keep pocket-hole assembly simple in the materials most indoor builders use every day. The coarse thread and washer head combination helps joints pull together cleanly and stay there.

• #8 x 1-1/4 in. screw size for pocket-hole fastening
• Coarse thread works well in pine, plywood, particle board, medium-density fiberboard, and melamine

Head Design That Fits Pocket Holes

The head style is a big part of why these work so well in pocket-hole systems. The broad washer head gives the screw a firm seat at the bottom of the pocket instead of trying to bury itself too deep.

• Maxi-Loc washer head helps eliminate pull-through
• Square drive helps keep the bit engaged while driving
