Overview

Woodpeckers SPT2 Shelf Pin And Drawer Slide Template is a cabinet drilling jig for laying out adjustable shelf pin holes and drawer slide mounting locations with repeatable spacing and setback. This is a shelf pin and drawer slide template designed for cabinet layout, shelf pin drilling, and drawer slide installation. Model Number: SPT2. It is built for cabinetmakers, installers, remodelers, and serious DIY users who want clean, consistent results in both new builds and retrofit work.

The big advantage with this jig is that it handles several common cabinet layouts without forcing you to make custom shop jigs. By repositioning the spacers, you can set shelf pin rows 1-1/2 inches, 2 inches, or 2-1/2 inches from the edge of the material. If the hole run needs to continue beyond the 23-inch template length, the indexing system lets you move the jig, drop pins into completed holes, and keep going while maintaining alignment.

For installed cabinets, the SPT2 is set up to reference from the inside of the face frame and the back of the cabinet, which matters when you are working inside an existing box and do not have the luxury of laying parts flat on a bench. The mirrored layout helps keep right, left, top, and bottom locations consistent so paired holes and slide positions stay where they belong.

If you build or install frameless Euro-style cabinets, the jig also covers that workflow. The 37 mm offset from the front and bottom is built into the template, and the 5 mm holes on 32 mm centers match the common system used for adjustable shelving and hardware layout. That means one jig can move between traditional face-frame work and frameless cabinet jobs without changing your whole process.

The SPT2 is also useful for drawer slide installation, not just shelf pins. It can drill holes for ball-bearing extension slides in frameless cabinets using 5 mm Euro mounting screws, or you can use the included 7/64 inch drill guide bushing to create pilot holes for standard wood screws. For face-frame drawer slide work, moving the edge guide pins puts the drilling location where it needs to be at the front of the frame stock.

Build quality is where Woodpeckers usually separates itself from generic jigs, and that shows here. The template is machined from solid phenolic with easy-reading white bonded to the top and bottom, so the markings are meant to stay readable over time. The setback spacers and index pins are stainless steel, and Woodpeckers notes that they only fit their proper positions, which helps prevent setup errors when you are moving fast.

In real shop use, this matters because shelf pin drilling is one of those operations that looks simple until a row is off, the cabinet side is already finished, or the drawer slide ends up slightly out of line. A jig like this earns its keep by removing hand-measured guesswork. Instead of chasing tape marks and hoping mirrored parts match, you register the jig, drill, index, and move on.

The Woodpeckers SPT2 Shelf Pin And Drawer Slide Template makes the most sense for anyone building cabinets regularly, upgrading existing cabinetry, or installing drawers and adjustable shelves where consistency matters. If you only need a quick one-off hole pattern in scrap melamine, a basic shop-made template may get you by. If you want a durable, repeatable cabinet jig that covers face-frame and frameless work with cleaner setup, this is the better tool.

Pro Tip

When your shelf pin row runs longer than the jig, index off holes you already drilled instead of remeasuring from the case edge. That keeps the 32 mm spacing true across the full cabinet side and avoids the slight drift that shows up when you restart from tape marks.

Tool Nut's Take

Tool Nut's Take

Woodpeckers SPT2 Shelf Pin And Drawer Slide Template Is the Kind of Jig That Saves Headaches Fast

If you build cabinets often enough to be annoyed by layout errors, this jig pays for itself in consistency more than speed alone.

• Who it's for: Cabinet shops, installers, remodelers, and woodworkers who need repeatable shelf pin drilling and drawer slide hole placement in face-frame or frameless work.
• Why it stands out: It covers the common offsets, supports 32 mm system work, and lets you keep extending the pattern with indexing pins instead of starting over.
• Worth knowing: This Standard set gives you the core jig and setup hardware, but the router bits, template guide bushing, and self-centering drill bits are separate purchases.

Common Questions

• Does this jig work for both face-frame and frameless cabinets? Yes. Woodpeckers specifies that the SPT2 is designed for traditional face-frame cabinets and 32 mm Euro-style frameless cabinets.
• What shelf pin pattern does it use? The jig uses 5 mm holes on 32 mm centers, which is the common Euro-style spacing for adjustable shelving systems.
• Can it be used in installed cabinets, not just on bench-built parts? Yes. The spacer system is designed so the jig can register inside finished cabinets as well as on new cabinet components.
• How do you continue a hole run past the length of the template? Use the included indexing pins in holes that were already drilled, move the jig up, and continue drilling while maintaining alignment.
