Key Features

Drill and Clear Dust Dust extraction holes remove dust from the hole while you drill, so you can handle drilling and hole cleaning in one step. That saves time on concrete anchor work and helps keep the work area cleaner. 3-Cutter Accuracy The 3-cutting-edge head, 135-degree edge geometry, and 120-degree supports are built to cut straighter and leave more accurate holes. That matters when anchor holes need a clean, dependable fit. SDS-Max Concrete Bit This Makita SDS-Max dust extraction drill bit is made for rotary hammers that accept SDS-Max shank bits. It is built for concrete drilling where dust control and bit life both matter.

Overview

The Makita B-63862 3/4" x 24" SDS-Max Dust Extraction Drill Bit is a carbide-tipped concrete drilling accessory built for rotary hammers that accept SDS-Max shank bits. This is a dust extraction drill bit designed for concrete drilling and faster chemical anchor installation. Model Number: B-63862. If you need a long masonry bit that helps manage dust while keeping holes accurate, this one is built for exactly that job.

The big story here is the built-in dust extraction design. The bit uses dust extraction holes to pull material out of the hole while drilling, which means drilling and hole cleaning happen in one step when paired with a dust extractor sold separately. On anchor jobs, that can cut out extra cleanup steps, speed up installation, and reduce airborne silica dust compared to standard drilling methods.

Makita built this bit around a 3-cutter head for better performance in concrete and improved resistance when you hit rebar. The 3 cutting edges are supported by 3 edge supports, and Makita calls out 3 cutting edges at 135 degrees to help prevent cracking around the hole, along with 3 supports at 120 degrees to improve hole accuracy. In plain terms, that means the bit is made to start clean, track straighter, and leave a more consistent finished hole.

The self-centering tungsten carbide tip helps drive the bit straight from the start. That matters on larger diameter concrete drilling where bit walk can waste time and open up the hole more than you want. Combined with the 3/4 inch diameter, 15-3/4 inch usable length, and 24 inch overall length, this bit is set up for deep drilling applications where reach and hole quality both matter.

Jobsite practicality is a real part of the design. Makita states this bit is an OSHA Table 1 compliant solution when used with approved control devices sold separately. It also fits most common dust extractor vacuums, which gives contractors a way to build a more complete dust-control setup around the rotary hammer they already use. Dust evacuation also helps increase drilling speed and can improve drill bit life by keeping debris from packing into the hole.

For compatibility, this bit is intended for rotary hammers that accept SDS-Max shank bits. It is a concrete drilling accessory, not a general-purpose drill bit. If your work involves anchor holes, deep concrete drilling, or production masonry work where dust control matters, that system-specific design is the reason to buy this style of bit instead of a standard SDS-Max masonry bit.

Who should buy it? This is a smart pick for concrete contractors, mechanical crews, electrical installers, general contractors, and anyone doing repeated anchor-hole drilling in concrete. If you are only drilling occasional shallow holes, a standard bit may be enough. If you need cleaner holes, better dust control, and a setup that supports faster chemical anchor installation, the Makita B-63862 earns its keep.

Cleaner Concrete Drilling with the Makita B-63862 3/4" x 24" SDS-Max Dust Extraction Drill Bit

If dust control is part of the job, this bit gives you a more efficient way to drill concrete holes without stopping to clean them out separately. That is especially useful when speed and hole prep matter for chemical anchor installation.

• Dust extraction holes remove dust from the hole while drilling
• Designed to reduce airborne silica dust when used with approved control devices sold separately
• OSHA Table 1 compliant solution when used in conjunction with approved control devices

Built to Track Straight and Handle Rebar

This bit is not just about pulling dust. The cutting head is designed to improve hole quality, maintain drilling speed, and hold up better when the job gets into reinforced concrete.

• 3 cutting edges for maximum performance, rebar resistance, and more accurate holes
• Self-centering tungsten carbide tip helps drive the bit straight
• Dust evacuation helps increase drilling speed and improve bit life

Pro Tip

If you are drilling anchor holes all day, pair this bit with an approved dust extractor setup from the start instead of treating the dust feature like a bonus. You will save time on hole prep and get more consistent anchor-ready holes without stopping to blow them out separately.
