Key Features

Built for Rebar The full carbide 4-cutter head is made to keep drilling when standard masonry bits start to struggle. Smaller, controlled bites through rebar help the bit stay accurate and last longer in reinforced concrete. Fast, Cleaner Holes The precision tip and optimized flute design help the bit start true and clear dust faster. That means better hole quality for anchor setting and less wasted time fighting the hole. SDS-Max Hammer Drill Bit This Diablo bit is an SDS-Max hammer drill bit designed for heavy concrete drilling with rotary hammers. It is optimized for corded and cordless SDS-Max tools, so it fits the jobs where reach, diameter, and impact energy matter.

Overview

The Diablo DMAMX1220 1 in. x 16 in. x 21 in. Rebar Demon SDS-Max 4-Cutter Full Carbide Head Hammer Drill Bit is a heavy-duty masonry drilling accessory for rotary hammers. This is a hammer drill bit designed for drilling reinforced concrete, concrete, and similar masonry materials where rebar contact is a real possibility. Model Number: DMAMX1220. If you are setting anchors, drilling deep holes, or working in structural concrete, this bit is built for that kind of abuse.

What separates this bit from a basic masonry bit is the 4-cutter full carbide head. Diablo calls out up to 7 times longer life versus standard 2-cutter hammer drill bits, and that matters most when you hit rebar instead of plain concrete. Rather than chipping away unevenly, the impact-resistant head takes smaller bites through embedded steel for more controlled wear, reduced vibration, and more consistent hole size.

Diablo also uses its Dura-Carbide build with up to 2 times more carbide and heat resistance up to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, compared to standard bits that can fail around 800 degrees. On the job, that means a better chance of finishing the hole instead of pulling the bit out and starting over with another one. The Tri-Metal Fusion Welding is there for the same reason: keeping the carbide head intact under repeated impact and rebar strikes.

The precision tip is not just a spec for the package. It helps the bit start in the right spot and stay stable as it drills, which is important when you need accurate anchor holes in reinforced concrete. Add the optimized flute design, and you get faster dust removal to keep the cutting head cooler. Cooler cutting usually means better durability, steadier drilling, and less slowdown as the hole gets deeper.

Size matters with this one. The 1 inch diameter is suited for larger anchor and through-hole work, while the 16 inch working length gives you serious drilling depth. The 21 inch overall length also gives you added reach for thicker slabs, walls, and structural material where a short bit will not get the job done. This is not a general-purpose homeowner bit. It is meant for heavier drilling tasks where capacity and durability count.

Compatibility is straightforward: this bit uses an SDS-Max shank and is optimized for maximum performance in corded and cordless SDS-Max rotary hammers. That makes it the right choice for users already working in the SDS-Max platform who need a bit for reinforced concrete drilling, concrete with rebar, brick, block, stone, or natural stone. It is a single-piece accessory, not a kit, and it is sold as an individual bit.

Who should buy it? Concrete contractors, masons, mechanical trades, electrical crews, general contractors, and serious remodelers who regularly drill large-diameter holes in hard material. If your work involves anchor setting in reinforced concrete and you are tired of standard bits losing the head or getting wrecked by rebar, this is the kind of upgrade that actually saves money because the bit is built for the problem you are dealing with.

Made for Reinforced Concrete Drilling

This bit is built around the kind of drilling that ruins ordinary masonry bits. When you are boring large holes in reinforced concrete, the cutting head, heat handling, and chip removal all need to work together or the job slows down fast.

• 1 inch diameter with 16 inch working length for deep concrete drilling
• Full carbide 4-cutter head designed to handle rebar contact with better control and durability
• Optimized flute design clears dust faster to help keep the cutting head cooler

Common Questions

• What type of tool does this bit fit? It uses an SDS-Max shank and is optimized for corded and cordless SDS-Max rotary hammers.
• What materials is it designed to drill? It is designed for concrete and concrete with rebar, with additional use across block, brick, stone, and natural stone.
• What are the length dimensions? The bit has a 21 inch overall length and a 16 inch working length.
• Why use a 4-cutter full carbide head? The 4-cutter design helps deliver fast, precise holes with reduced vibration and better durability when the bit contacts rebar.

Tool Nut's Take

Tool Nut's Take

Diablo DMAMX1220 is the right call when concrete might fight back

This is the kind of SDS-Max bit you buy when standard 2-cutter bits keep getting punished by rebar and lost time matters more than saving a few bucks up front.

• Who it's for: Pros drilling larger anchor holes in reinforced concrete with SDS-Max rotary hammers.
• Why it stands out: Full carbide 4-cutter head, long 16 inch working length, and a design focused on heat resistance, durability, and hole accuracy.
• Worth knowing: This is a single 1 inch x 21 inch bit, so it is purpose-built for heavier drilling jobs, not a general grab-bag masonry accessory.
