Key Features

Fast Self-Feed Start The SPEED-TIP threaded point pulls the bit into the wood with less pushing from you. That means quicker starts and faster hole drilling than a standard spade bit. Clean Wood Holes The angled spur cutting edge scores the wood before the full cut happens, which helps reduce blowout. If hole quality matters for rough-in or finish work, that detail matters. Built for Drills This Diablo spade drill bit is made for corded and cordless drill drivers and impact drivers. The hex shank helps hold securely in the tool and improves durability under load.

Overview

The Diablo DSP3060 1 in. x 16 in. SPEEDemon High Speed Steel Spade Drill Bit is a long-reach wood boring bit built for fast, clean hole drilling where a standard-length bit will not get you there. Model Number: DSP3060. This is a spade drill bit designed for drilling fast, clean holes in wood. With a 1 inch cutting diameter and 16 inch overall length, it is a practical choice for electricians, plumbers, remodelers, and framers who need to bore through studs, joists, and other wood members without switching to a more expensive specialty bit.

What makes this bit worth a look is the way Diablo set it up for speed. The SPEED-TIP self-feed design helps the tip pull into the material so you do not have to lean on the drill as hard to get the hole started. In real use, that means less effort overhead or between studs and quicker progress when you have a run of holes to make. Diablo also calls out an optimized curved paddle design to move chips out of the cut faster, which helps the bit stay cutting instead of packing up in the hole.

Hole quality is another strong point here. The angled spur cutting edge scores the wood ahead of the main cut, which helps produce a cleaner edge and reduces blowout compared to a basic paddle bit. If you are roughing in pipe, conduit, or cable, cleaner holes make it easier to keep the work neat and avoid splintered exits. That is especially useful when you are boring through visible framing or working in material that tends to tear out.

The long 16 inch length is the other big reason to buy this model. It gives you extra reach for thicker assemblies, deep access points, and awkward boring angles where stubby bits come up short. For rough-in work inside framed walls, that added length can save time because you can reach the target without changing your setup or hunting for an extension.

Diablo builds this bit from high speed steel and pairs it with an Impact Strong shank design for better stability and durability in both corded and cordless tools. The hex shank style helps the bit lock in securely and makes it a better fit for impact drivers and drill drivers than a smooth round shank would be. It is a simple detail, but it matters when you are pushing a large-diameter bit through wood and want solid engagement at the chuck.

Compatibility is straightforward. This wood boring bit is intended for use in corded or cordless impact drivers and drill drivers, with a 10 mm shank diameter and a minimum 1/4 inch chuck size required. The application is clean wood, including common jobsite wood materials such as framing lumber, plywood, hardwoods, and softwoods called out in the available product information.

If you are the kind of user who drills occasional small pilot holes, this is probably more bit than you need. But if you regularly bore larger pass-through holes in wood and want a bit that starts fast, clears chips well, and reaches deeper than standard spade bits, this model makes sense. It is especially well suited for trade users who value speed and straightforward performance over fancy add-ons.

Reach Deeper Into Framing

The 16 inch length is the whole story here. It gives you the reach to bore through studs and framing members where a standard spade bit leaves you short.

• 1 inch diameter for larger wood pass-through holes
• 16 inch length for deeper access in framing and rough-in work
• Made for clean wood drilling with corded or cordless tools
