Key Features

Centered Roll Pin Fit The tip has a rounded center section that seats in the hole of a roll pin, helping you drive the pin out cleanly without slipping off and beating up the workpiece. Hardened Through the Tool Forged chrome vanadium steel and 54 to 58 HRC hardness throughout the full length give this roll pin punch the durability needed for repeated hammer strikes. Octagon Body Grip The octagonal body is easier to hold when lining up the punch and it does not roll away across the bench when you set it down.

Overview

The Knipex Rennsteig 9R 455 721 KUS 3/32 in. x 6 in. Roll Pin Punch is a precision hand punch built for removing roll pins without damaging the pin or the surrounding part. This is a roll pin punch designed for pin removal in repair, assembly, and maintenance work. Model Number: 9R 455 721 KUS. If you work on machinery, equipment, metal parts, or detailed assemblies where a standard flat punch can slip, this size-specific punch gives you a cleaner, more controlled hit.

What matters here is the tip design. Instead of a plain end, the center of the tip has a rounded pilot that fits into the hole created by the roll pin. That keeps the punch centered as you strike it, which helps reduce walking, edge damage, and bent pins. On small pins like 3/32 in., that extra control is the difference between a quick removal and a frustrating mess.

The body is forged from hardened chrome vanadium steel and tempered to 54 to 58 HRC through the entire length, not just at the working end. That matters because repeated hammer blows do not just stress the tip. They travel through the whole tool. Full-length hardening helps the punch hold shape, resist wear, and stand up to regular shop use better than lighter-duty punches that are only hardened at the end.

Rennsteig also built this punch with practical shop details that are easy to appreciate once you use it. The octagonal body gives you a better grip when you are lining up on a small pin, and it helps keep the tool from rolling off a cart or bench. The ground and polished tip improves fit and consistency at the working end, and the core design is made to resist mushrooming at the striking head over time.

At 6 in. overall length, this punch gives you enough reach to work in tighter spots while still keeping your hand a safer distance from the hammer face. The slim 3/32 in. tip diameter makes it a good fit for smaller roll pins where accuracy matters more than brute force. It also complies with DIN 7255, which gives added confidence that the dimensions and form are made to a recognized standard.

This punch makes the most sense for mechanics, metalworking shops, equipment maintenance crews, gunsmithing-style bench work, and serious DIY users who need a proper roll pin punch instead of making do with a generic drift. If you regularly remove spring pins and want cleaner starts, better alignment, and longer service life, this is the right kind of simple tool to buy once and keep in the box for years.

Stay Centered on Small Roll Pins

This punch is built for one job: removing roll pins with more control than a standard punch can give you. The pilot tip helps it seat in the pin instead of skating off the edge.

• 3/32 in. tip diameter for small roll pin work
• Rounded center section helps protect the pin and surrounding material

Built to Take Repeated Hammer Strikes

Good punches fail at the head or deform at the tip. This one is hardened through the full tool and designed to resist mushrooming, which matters when it lives in a real toolbox and gets used hard.

• Chrome vanadium steel construction
• Tempered to 54 to 58 HRC throughout the length

Easier to Hold, Harder to Lose

The octagonal body is a small detail that makes everyday use better. It gives you a steadier hold while lining up on a pin and stays put when set down on a bench or cart.

• Octagonal shape for grip and anti-roll control
• Ground and polished tip for consistent contact

Pro Tip

Match the punch size to the roll pin size and let the pilot tip seat fully before you strike. On a small 3/32 in. pin, that centered start is what keeps the punch from slipping off and marking the surrounding part.
