Overview

The Tajima PLC3-DR300 Snap Line Dye is a dark red snap line chalk refill for layout and marking work. This is a snap line dye designed for semi-permanent marking tasks. Model number PLC3-DR300. It is built for tradespeople and serious DIY users who want a finer marking powder that reads clearly and holds up better than basic chalk when working indoors or on active jobsites.

What matters here is the powder itself. Tajima calls it an ultra-fine powdered chalk, which means it can coat the line more evenly and leave a sharper mark when snapped. For layout work, that matters. Cleaner lines make it easier to stay on your cut, keep framing aligned, and transfer measurements without second-guessing a fuzzy mark.

This dark red layout dye is also positioned as wind-resistant and water-repellent. In real use, that means the line is less likely to blow apart during application and less likely to disappear immediately from light moisture exposure. If you are snapping lines on subfloors, framing lumber, concrete-adjacent surfaces, or other active work areas, that added hold can save time because you are not constantly re-marking the same run.

The bottle size is practical for routine refill work. At 10.6 oz (300 g), it is large enough for regular use but still easy to keep in a pouch, gang box, or truck organizer. It also has an easy-fill nozzle, which is the kind of detail that matters when you are topping off a chalk reel without making a mess all over the bench or floor.

This product is part of the snap line marking category, so it is best thought of as a consumable for chalk reels and line marking tools rather than a standalone tool. If your work depends on fast, repeatable layout lines for framing, carpentry, remodeling, roofing, or general construction, this is the kind of refill that earns its place because the line quality affects every step that follows.

Who should buy it? Anyone who uses a chalk reel often enough to care about line visibility and consistency. If you are just marking rough temporary lines, almost any chalk will do. If you want a fine, readable red line that is made for semi-permanent layout work and better resistance to jobsite conditions, the Tajima PLC3-DR300 Snap Line Dye is the better fit.

Cleaner Layout Lines

The payoff with this marking dye is line quality. A finer powder helps produce a more defined snap line, which makes it easier to lay out cuts, walls, and reference marks without wasting time cleaning up inaccurate layout.

• Ultra-fine powdered chalk for more consistent line transfer
• Dark red color is easy to distinguish from standard blue layout marks

Tajima PLC3-DR300 Snap Line Dye for crews who care about line quality

This is the kind of refill you buy when a chalk line is not just a suggestion and you need it to stay readable while the work keeps moving.

• Who it's for: Framers, carpenters, remodelers, and anyone using a chalk reel for repeated layout work.
• Why it stands out: Ultra-fine powder, dark red visibility, and better resistance to wind and light moisture than bargain chalk.
• Worth knowing: This is a marking consumable, not a reel, and it makes the most sense for users who want a cleaner, longer-lasting snap line rather than the cheapest refill on the shelf.
