108-Tooth Finish Cuts This high-tooth-count cut-off blade is built for clean crosscuts where edge quality matters. It reduces tear-out and leaves a smoother surface, which means less sanding and less cleanup after the cut. Runs Smoother Laser-cut anti-vibration slots help keep the blade stable at speed. That matters on production saws because less vibration usually means a cleaner edge and a blade that stays usable longer. Built for Fine Wood Crosscutting The Freud carbide blend, Hi-ATB grind, and coated plate are aimed at hardwood, softwood, plywood, laminate, and chipboard. If your goal is a glass-smooth finish on finished stock, this setup makes sense.

Overview

Freud LU85R015 15 in. Ultimate Cut-Off Blade is a 15 inch carbide-tipped circular saw blade made for high-production crosscutting in wood and sheet goods. This is a cut-off blade designed for smooth, finish-grade crosscuts in hardwood, softwood, plywood, laminate, and chipboard. Model Number: LU85R015. With a 108-tooth layout, 1 inch arbor, and 0.136 inch kerf, it is aimed at shops and production users who care more about cut quality and reduced blowout than all-around ripping speed.

The big story here is finish quality. Freud built this blade with a high tooth count, Hi-Alternate Top Bevel tooth geometry, and an axial shear face side grind that helps polish the material while it cuts. In practical terms, that means cleaner edges on crosscuts and less breakout on delicate surfaces. If you are cutting prefinished stock, cabinet parts, trim components, plywood panels, or hardwood pieces that need to look right straight off the saw, those details matter.

Freud also uses its TiCo Hi-Density Carbide blend for this blade, and that is not just brochure talk. On a production blade, the carbide formula affects how long the edge lasts and how consistently it keeps cutting clean as the hours add up. Freud pairs that with its Silver I.C.E. coating, which is there to reduce heat, pitch buildup, rust, and corrosion. Less heat and drag generally means steadier cuts and less downtime for blade changes or cleaning.

The plate itself is designed for stability. Freud calls out a laser-cut blade body, anti-vibration technology, and hi-tolerance precision plate grinding and tensioning. For the guy running a chop saw, upcut saw, or other high-speed production setup, that translates into a blade that tracks flatter and resists the chatter that can show up as rougher edges. The listed 48 Rockwell steel plate and Tri-Metal Brazing are both part of that same goal: keep the body stable and keep the carbide teeth attached and protected under demanding use.

Application range is clearly finish-focused. Freud specifically positions this blade for crosscut wood, hardwood, softwood, laminate, plywood, and chipboard, while also stating that non-ferrous cutting is not recommended. It is also intended for a fairly specific cut-depth window, from 1/4 inch minimum to 1-5/8 inch maximum. That makes it a better fit for precision production work than for general-purpose jobsite abuse where one blade is expected to do everything.

From a fitment standpoint, this blade has a 15 inch diameter and a 1 inch arbor, with a maximum rated speed of 4,000 RPM. Those are the numbers to match against your saw before buying. The 0.136 inch kerf and 0.118 inch plate are also worth noting if your setup depends on exact cut width, feed pressure, or replace-in-kind blade swaps on a production line.

This blade makes the most sense for cabinet shops, millwork operations, furniture makers, and serious woodworkers running dedicated crosscut stations. It is also a smart choice for anyone cutting finish parts in volume and trying to reduce sanding, touch-up, and rejected pieces. If your main concern is fast rough cutting, this is probably more blade than you need. If your main concern is clean edges and consistent output, this is exactly the kind of blade you buy on purpose.

Cleaner Crosscuts with Less Blowout

This blade is built for finish work where the edge needs to come off the saw looking done, not half done. The tooth geometry is aimed at reducing cutting pressure and minimizing tear-out on crosscuts.

• 108-tooth design for smooth, fine-finish cutting
• Hi-ATB grind with axial shear face side grind helps polish the cut edge
• Ideal for hardwood, softwood, plywood, laminate, and chipboard

Built to Stay Stable at Production Speed

On a production crosscut blade, stability is not a luxury. It is what helps you hold cut quality over time. Freud uses a laser-cut plate, anti-vibration slots, and precision tensioning so the blade runs flatter and smoother.

• Maximum rated speed: 4,000 RPM
• Laser-cut anti-vibration design helps reduce chatter
• Tri-Metal Brazing improves tooth bond strength and impact resistance
