Overview

The Mirka 63-500-036 5 in. Gold Trim-KUT Disc P36 is a coarse abrasive disc made for aggressive material removal. This is a grinding disc designed for fast cutting, grinding, and trimming applications where speed matters more than surface finish. Model Number: 63-500-036. If you are stripping material, knocking down edges, or clearing away stock in a hurry, this disc is built for that kind of work.

What matters here is the combination of 36-grit cutting action and aluminum oxide abrasive. A coarse grit like this removes material quickly, so it is a better fit for heavy prep work than fine sanding. That makes it useful when the goal is to reshape, clean up, or reduce material before moving on to a finer step.

Mirka pairs that abrasive surface with a special polymer backing. In practical terms, that means the disc is designed to be used without a separate backing pad. That is a real convenience on the job because it cuts down on extra setup and keeps the disc ready for quick-change work where you do not want to stop and build out a more complicated stack.

The 5 inch size is a familiar sweet spot for control and access. It is large enough to cover material efficiently, but still manageable for tighter areas, edge cleanup, and selective grinding where a larger wheel would feel clumsy. For users doing detail-oriented material removal, that size is often easier to manage than stepping up to a larger format.

Another practical advantage is that Trim-KUT discs can be trimmed as needed to expose new grinding surfaces. That gives the product a longer useful working life and helps you keep cutting without immediately reaching for a fresh disc. For anyone doing repeated spot grinding or edge work, that feature can save time and stretch consumable value.

This Mirka abrasive disc makes the most sense for metalworking, repair work, fabrication, and general shop use where fast removal is the priority. It is not the disc you buy for finish-ready sanding. It is the one you buy when the job starts rough and you need a disc that gets to work fast.
