Clean Pull-Stroke Cuts This Tajima hand saw cuts on the pull stroke, which helps keep the blade tracking straight and leaves a cleaner cut in wood with less effort than a typical push saw. Quick Blade Changes The quick-release blade retainer makes blade swaps faster, which matters when the saw lives in your jobsite bag and actually gets used instead of sitting on a shelf. Comfortable Straight Handle The traditional straight handle with elastomer grip gives you a secure hold and better control for trim work, woodworking, and general cut-in tasks.

Overview

The Tajima JPR-265R Japan Pull Hand Saw is a precision cut pull-stroke saw built for wood cutting. This is a hand saw designed for precise woodworking and general contractor cut-off work. Model Number: JPR-265R. If you want the clean, controlled feel of a Japanese-style saw with jobsite-friendly practicality, this one is aimed right at that middle ground between fine work and everyday use.

The big story here is the pull-stroke design. Because the blade cuts as you pull, the blade stays in tension during the cut instead of buckling forward. In plain terms, that helps the saw track straighter and makes it easier to start a cut cleanly. On trim, finish material, and smaller stock, that usually means less wandering and less cleanup after the cut. With its 16 teeth per inch tooth pattern and 1/16" (1.75 mm) tooth pitch, this saw is set up for controlled, fine cutting rather than rough demolition work.

Tajima gives this saw a 10-7/16" (265 mm) blade, which is a useful size for a lot of real shop and jobsite tasks. It is long enough to give you a smooth stroke and decent reach across wider material, but not so long that it feels awkward in a toolbox or pouch. The listed 0.024" (0.6 mm) blade thickness and 1/16" (0.9 mm) kerf width matter because they point to the kind of cut this saw is made for: efficient, narrow, accurate cuts in wood without the bulky feel of a heavier western-style hand saw.

The handle setup also makes sense. Tajima uses a traditional straight handle with an elastomer grip, so you get a more secure hold without losing the direct feel that makes a pull saw useful in the first place. That matters when you are trimming proud material, sneaking up on a layout line, or making repeat hand cuts where control matters more than brute force. At about 0.5 lb in product weight, it stays light in the hand and easy to guide.

Another practical feature is the quick-release blade retainer. That is not just a convenience spec. It means this saw is easier to maintain in real use, especially for tradespeople who want to keep the handle and swap blades as needed instead of tossing the whole tool. It is also compatible with Tajima GNB blades, which adds some value if you already use Tajima cutting accessories or want an easier path for replacement blades.

Blade construction matters on a Japanese pull saw, and this one has a hardened tooth design and Japanese-style tempering. The point is simple: the saw is built to hold its cutting edge and stay useful over time in wood applications. It also uses SK-95 steel blade material, which fits the kind of fine, springy blade behavior users expect from this style of saw.

Who is this saw for? Woodworkers, trim carpenters, remodelers, punch-list crews, and serious DIY users who want cleaner hand cuts than a standard utility saw usually gives them. It is especially useful for tasks where a power saw is overkill, too messy, or just slower to set up. If your work involves trim fitting, small stock, controlled crosscuts, or careful cutoffs in finished spaces, the Tajima JPR-265R Japan Pull Hand Saw is the kind of tool that earns its place fast.

Control the Cut, Not Just the Speed

This saw is built for users who care more about accuracy and finish than brute-force stock removal. The pull-stroke action and fine tooth pattern give you better feel at the line, which is exactly what you want when the cut is visible or the fit needs to be right the first time.

• 10-7/16" (265 mm) blade balances reach with maneuverability
• 16 teeth per inch helps support smooth, precise wood cutting

Pro Tip

Let the full length of the 10-7/16" (265 mm) blade do the work. Short, choppy strokes make a pull saw feel grabby, while a longer smooth pull gives you a cleaner kerf and better tracking. If you keep this saw in rotation, the quick-release retainer makes it worth keeping a spare compatible blade on hand.
