Key Features

Corded-Class OutputThe 13 Amp motor equivalent and up to 2,300 max watts out give this grinder the muscle for heavier grinding and cutting jobs without dragging a cord around the site. Fast Wheel StopWhen you release the trigger, the brake can stop a standard 4-1/2 in. x 1/4 in. bonded abrasive wheel in about 1.5 seconds. That means less waiting and better control between cuts. Safety BackupThis DEWALT grinder uses KICKBACK BRAKE and E-CLUTCH technology to react quickly during a pinch, stall, or bind-up event, helping reduce tool movement and shutting the motor down fast.

Overview

The DEWALT DCG418B 60V MAX Brushless Cordless 4-1/2 in. - 6 in. Grinder is a cordless angle grinder built for serious grinding and cutting work where corded-style power still matters. This is a cordless angle grinder designed for metal grinding, weld cleanup, and cut-off work. Model Number: DCG418B. It is sold as a tool only configuration, so it is aimed at users already on the DEWALT FLEXVOLT platform or anyone adding a high-output grinder to an existing 60V MAX setup.

What makes this one matter is the combination of output and speed. DEWALT rates it at a 13 Amp motor equivalent with up to 2,300 max watts out, and the 9,000 RPM no-load speed is matched for applications with 6 in. grinder wheels. In plain terms, that gives you the kind of power you want when you are leaning into heavier stock removal, cutting steel, or cleaning up welds without the tool feeling underpowered.

DEWALT also built this grinder around jobsite control, not just raw numbers. The brake engages when the trigger is released, with stopping speeds of about 1.5 seconds when using a standard 4-1/2 in. x 1/4 in. bonded abrasive wheel. That is a practical feature, not brochure filler. A wheel that stops faster lets you set the tool down sooner, reposition quicker, and move from cut to cut with less dead time.

On the safety side, this grinder is part of the DEWALT PERFORM & PROTECT line and includes both KICKBACK BRAKE and E-CLUTCH. If the wheel gets pinched, stalls, or binds up, the system is designed to react by applying the electronic brake with maximum force and shutting the grinder off. E-CLUTCH activates in less than a tenth of a second when a pinch or stall is detected. For anyone who has ever had a grinder grab unexpectedly, that is the kind of feature that earns its keep fast.

The design is set up for flexibility across common grinder jobs. This model accepts 4-1/2 in. through 6 in. wheels, and DEWALT includes both a 4-1/2 in. Type 27 guard and a 6 in. Type 27 guard in the box. That gives you a wider working range from tighter cleanup work to larger wheel applications without needing to start buying basic setup parts separately. A side handle, wrench, and two flanges are also included so the tool is ready to be configured once you add the correct battery and wheel.

Because it is a 60V MAX cordless grinder, the DCG418B makes the most sense for metalworkers, mechanical contractors, ironworkers, maintenance crews, and general contractors who need mobility but do not want to give up power. It is also a strong fit for users stepping up from smaller cordless grinders that feel fine for light cleanup but run out of steam on tougher work. If your day includes cutting rebar, grinding welds, beveling edges, or knocking down scale and rust, this is the kind of grinder that can handle more than quick touch-up duty.

Built for Bigger Grinding Jobs

If you need a cordless grinder that does more than quick touch-up work, this is the point of the DCG418B. It is sized and powered for heavier grinding and cutting jobs where smaller cordless models start to feel slow.

• 13 Amp motor equivalent output with up to 2,300 max watts out
• 9,000 RPM no-load speed for applications using 6 in. grinder wheels

More Control When Things Go Wrong

Grinders earn respect fast because they can get away from you in a bind-up. DEWALT addressed that with electronic systems that help stop the wheel and shut the tool down when a pinch or stall is detected.

• KICKBACK BRAKE reacts to pinch, stall, or bind-up events
• E-CLUTCH activates in less than a tenth of a second when a pinch or stall is detected
